What is it really like to work there? I'm thinking of applying.

1. WindRavenX works there -- might want to ask her.

2. Apparently, you have to spend all day...

...making ridiculous coffee-based concoctions for self-important trendies too tragically hip to realize they're paying $7 for a 35¢ cup of foam. Sounds like intolerable cruelty to me. Oh, and you have to listen to insufferable soft rock/folk/pop all day, unless it's one of the Starbucks that hosts "live music," which is usually even worse.

And you get to contribute to the death of independent coffeeshops and the creeping homogenization of the American commercial landscape. And increase the risk of us all dying of anthrax...possibly.

5. Not bad, actually.
Although my local Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf serves Krispy Kreme donuts, so my corporate-fascist business goes there. :)

Around here, coffee shops just weren't popular until Starbucks popularized them. Now, we have Starbucks and a few others.

I go in occasionally to one of the private shops for a coffee every now and then with a girl friend. It's cheaper than eating out, and we can spend a couple of hours chatting. On occasion, we will go to Starbucks, but the coffee is too roasted for me.
