I DEFY you to have had a worse day than mine!
Unless someone died, of course - in which case I'm very sorry.

Got up this morning and saw it was raining heavily. Still had errands to run, so got out of the house around 10. Stopped by the bank and deposited a check. Stopped and gassed up the MINI. Then got on Valley Ranch Parkway to get on 635E to go to the Cat Connection for cat food. MINI slowed down, sputtered and DIED. Managed to steer leftward, but was still partially in traffic (moderately traveled residential area). Some nice guy, also stranded, pushed me over to the side.

I sat there for FOUR HOURS waiting for MINI Roadside Assistance to show up to tow me to the dealership. In the meantime, I tried to get some air going - the windows were fogging up, and it was still warm. I couldn't keep the windows rolled down because of the constant rain. I had nothing to eat but candy. I had no book. I did have my BlackBerry and was able to make phone calls and surf the Web while waiting. I called a local wrecker service, who promised to be there in 30 minutes, but an hour later was still waiting for THEM. In the meantime the MINI wrecker showed up.

He towed me to the dealership, where the parking lot was FLOODED, and they had orange cones up to block entry. Had to wait 20 minutes for clearance for the tow truck driver to back my car in and unload it. Then waited another 45 minutes for a loaner car, which turned out to be a red Ford F150, about the biggest thing I could get, as opposed to my little MINI.

Was told the MINI couldn't be jumped, and it might be the fuel pump. OH HAPPY DAY.

Managed to make it to Cat Connection for their food and home safely. I had to park the behemoth across the street, as it would take up the entire garage.

Mr. DTBK not home yet. He had his first real day of work at the VA today. I want to hear about his day, but mostly want sympathy for my ordeal!

POOR POOR PITFUL ME!!!!

5. Let me tell you a little about MY day!
This morning, when I logged onto D.U, I found out that someone had hacked into my account and posted profanities and insults to other D.U'ers...I had to post a message in the lounge stating that it was not me...

About a half-hour later, I get a call from my sister telling me that my mother fell in the nursing home and had to go for a CT- scan.

THEN...I go for my paycheck from my second job to deposit it at my bank and find that it is MISSING. I know exactly where I put the thing, but it is gone. I have torn apart the mailboxes of my roommates as well looking for the blasted thing..it just VANISHED.

THEN...I get a call from my friend ( my ride to my second job ) at about 4:30 telling me that he had a high fever and was very sick, so he couldn't take me to my other job. I then had to call the other job to notify them that I could not come in ( the last bus leaves at 9:30 p.m ). They were not happy about that.

In short, my Monday SUCKED BALLS

6. Your Day Makes My Day Look Pretty Good
I had a talking to from the general manager at work.

One of my co-workers filed a complaint about me, because I embarrassed her.

How did I do such a thing?

She was causing a major distraction while I was trying to do my job, and I made it clear to her it needed to stop. I raised my voice and told her I needed her to pipe it down. She told the GM I screamed at her at the top of my lungs. I'm considering offering a demo to the company so that, in future cases, they'll know what I sound like at the top of my lungs.

This same woman, two weeks ago, completely ragged on me in front of several co-workers. My crime? Wearing a skirt to work, which I don't usually do. Did I go to the GM and complain? No. I was going to say something to her, personally, about how upsetting it was, but got distracted.

I am so. Fucking. Pissed.

9. I had one of those today too. Mine was bout an issue I handled
6 months ago that got escalated to the highest muckety mucks and so they wrote me up. The language in it was pretty scary, but both my Team Lead and My Senior Team Lead assured me I was not really at risk to lose my job. Don't care what they say I am still nervous.

Depose, you had a helluva morning, no question about it and I would be in a major frump if I were in your position, ESPECIALLY since you left home without a book. How Could You? Seriously, glad all turned out well enough and hope the repairs are not too 'spensive

7. Oh, I don't know, all things are relative...
I've got 6 employees who are working full time at getting me (the boss) fired. I get more respect outside of my department than from my employees. So i get this shit everyday, its great being a state employee.

8. Well, I
woke up late, wandered in to work, piddled around for a while, left early, and took a nap after playing Gamecube with my eight year old daughter.

So, you got me beat. Although there's still time.

10. Wait four hours?
I would have issues with that if I were a member of the mini roadside assistance club, I shouldn't have to wait. At least you had some entertainment.

11. Before I empathize, let me say - Triple A, baby! AAA. It'll save ya.
What an awful day, though!

And you are right, it was way, way worse than mine.

In all your story, I was thinking (barring any medical problems, or need to truly and really be anywhere in a timely fashion), "Okay, I could live with that - rainy days I like; being stranded sucks, but it's a kind of cool mini-forced-sabbatical, like a power outage; not too hot, not too cold, and protected from rain" and so on...

and then I read.... "and no book"

And I screamed inside!

That's the one thing that, for me, would have been the ultimate hell. All that freetime, and not a goddamned thing to read.

Thank God for the blackberry!
