Stupid muscle !! Why do you have to weigh more than fat??!!
I know, I know ... It's more important to be cardiovascularly fit and toned.

It doesn't really matter what the scale says.

It's more about losing inches than pounds.

Building muscle will help me in the long run and burn more calories in a resting state.

The power walking, the squats, the lunges, the bicycling, the hand weights, the elliptical machine -- it's all good. My body thanks me.

.
.
.

But ... I can't help but feel that ... deep down inside ... there's a part of me that whispers that ...

I WANT THE FRICKIN' SCALE TO REFLECT THE FACT I'VE BEEN WORKING MY ASS OFF!!!!! :grr: :banghead:

*end of rant*

5. Well, you know, that's the thing ...
I don't have many pounds to lose... Since having kids in my early 30s, I've stayed in the "just-slightly-chubby-to-not-bad" range. People tell me that I don't need to lose weight. When I hit 40, I started working out more. I just want to lose that vanity 5 to 10 pounds. I've been very diligent this summer. I just want to get rid of that very slight layer of the chubs and to be sleek and lean. My sister went from never exercising to a buffed and toned hot mama, which inspired me. I don't need to be that extreme, but I just want to be strong and flab-free.

I just feel like my metabolism should kick in more and boost my mood by melting away a few lbs. for me, ya know?

And good for you for dropping 60! That's great! :hi: :hi:

8. Oh honey, I know your pain.
Absolutely everyone has been commenting how much weight I've lost lately, and I really appreciate it. But I actually haven't lost a single pound in MONTHS. I fear that I might actually be made out of lead, because I truly and honestly don't think I look like I weigh over 200 lbs. Yet I still do.

It's very frustrating when you go to the gym 6x a week and really watch what you eat but the damn scale doesn't budge.

Have you tried measuring yourself? Just to give yourself a little incentive? Measure all over: your chest, your waist, your hips, your neck, your calves, your thighs and your arms. At least if you see something changing you'll feel like you accomplished more. It's what has kept me from going crazy the past few months.

This time last year I was losing 2-3 lbs a week and thinking I might be at my goal by Xmas 2007. Ha! Now I'll be thrilled to break the 200 lb. barrier by Xmas.

Anyway, good luck and hang in there. You'll eventually get over the hump.

12. Thanks, grace ...
My husband has been saying he can see a difference in me and a good friend just told me that I do look much more toned, so I've gotta concentrate on that.

I am going to get out the measuring tape. Because I'm pretty much at a normal weight now, I need to measure carefully to see any differences. I'm just being vain about the scale numbers ...

Congratulations on your accomplishment, as well!

14. Thanks Oregonian! I know it gets harder the closer you get to your goal weight.
Your body doesn't want you to go below a healthy weight and puts on the breaks. Although in my case I still have 60 more lbs. to go before that would happen so I don't know what my metabolism is thinking. :eyes: Still I am happy to have lost 75 lbs. so far and I have muscles where I never had them before so I'm trying to look on the bright side. And yes, the measuring tape does help.

Good job on getting fit and healthy! :hi:

11. I know that -- intellectually.
But there is a part of me that wants instant number gratification ... Hey, I'm a 'Murikin and I want stuff! :D

I think if I had lots of weight to lose instead of wanting (not needing) to drop a few as well as tone up, I'd be seeing more scale movement action. It's those darn "last" five pounds that don't want to leave my bod.

You're right, of course, I should forget the scale.

15. Use one of these to adjust your scale.

Weight does not matter so much as body mass index. So stop fretting about it. Working out and eating right will make you fit and healthy, but in the end you are still going to look like Oregonian. You won't look like an Olympian god unless your parents are Mr. & Mrs. Olympian.

16. sounds to me like everything else indicates that you have been working very hard
why place all the importance on what the scale says? The other indicators are saying you're a bad-ass.
