2. I was just desperately trying to find people as disgusted by GWB as I was

(I live in north Texas, surrounded by rightwing garbage).........I found sanity in the DU and the lounge is where we usually go for some light relief :hi:

And the lounge seemed like the sanest of the forums on the site.

12. I was in a chat room and someone was posting

late breaking news that my ticker wasn't posting. So I asked him for a link and he posted DU'S LBN forum. I spent the first couple of years just in LBN before I explored the rest of DU. Now the lounge is my favorite forum.

Nah, somebody on Motheringdotcommune used to post links here from their political forum (which is a weird mix of liberals and crazy-ass right wingers, very fun) and I started lurking and eventually signed up.

14. I was birddogging the ENRON scandal and it seemed all the good material and writing led me to DU

I learned about ENRON, and a whole lot more when I stumbled out of the wilderness and into DUs embracing arms.

Averaged out, my time spent in the Lounge and GD is probably about even.

27. It was exactly three years ago, actually.

I was at the website for a guy named David Sanders, who was running against Steve Buyer (R-IN) for Congress. Buyer had made the Top 10 Conservative Idiots list at some point, and Sanders provided the link on his website. Good stuff.

seriously. I didn't know that there was a left web until someone at the Freep posted a Will Pitt article so I checked out DU and after about 2 months I signed up and started posting. The lounge was a natural fit, lets say.

33. A friend of mine told me about DU in late 2004, and I lurked

until early 2005. I mainly hung out in GD, but I eventually learned that the Lounge was my favorite place. I still read GD and other areas of DU, but I only post in the Lounge. :D
