I've done something stupid and challenging...signed up for my first Ironman.
I received confirmation on my entry into the 2008 Wisconsin Ironman. I guess I'll be posting less and exercising more. The biking part is what I'm most nervous about and least proficient in. Any advice from veterns will be listened to.

1. check your local area for groups that train together
I think active.com will help you find people to train with. Certainly if you can find someone who has done one before, they would be an excellent resource for training, equipment, etc.

Good luck!

2. I'm a member of our local running club...
Unfortunately, I live in a small town so there aren't many people training for Ironman's here.

I'm in sort of information paralysis going over all the different training programs. I have no idea which one to follow.

4. The swim is 2.4 miles
However, as a life long Floridian and practically raised in the water, the swim isn't a concern for me. I've always been a swimmer and runner, biking though is relatively new to me and I've never tried to go that far. My hope is survive the bike and make up time on the marathon run.

5. Bravo!
I've thought about trying one, but so far havent taken the plunge. Of course, my swimming is pretty bad too. Bike and run I could manage.

Where is this one being held?

6. Wisconsin
I figure it should be at least cooler than Florida.

I might regret taking the plunge though.

7. Do you get to swim in lake Michigan?
bring a wetsuit. That lake NEVER gets warm.

I grew up on the shore, we could walk on the beach in August and freeze our feet by stepping in.
