39. For some reason, this made me LOL
loud enough that my assistant asked if I'm okay. Apparently, when I laugh I sound like I'm having some kind of attack.

Well, thanks very much. Now I have to work, in order to look responsible.

I luvs me some chicken fried steak, or country fried steak, depending on who you're talking to. I've made it a few times, and this message means that I'll be making some more before the weekend!

Edited on Tue Sep-11-07 09:57 PM by TommyO
A nice Steak au poive, with mushroom risotto (laced with truffle oil) and asparagus. If wine is allowed, I'll go back to one of my comfort wines, Forest Glen Merlot.

edited to add: Damn, now not only do I need to make some country fried steak for myself, I need to pick up a nice piece of tenderloin to make the steak au poive!

14. It's my Grandmother's invention
I will try my best to tell you how to do it.

Take a corn taco tortilla, the ones that come flat and dip and flip it in some hot cooking oil. Just enough to soften them up. I am not sure, but I think they are only cooked a few seconds on each side. Anyway, the key is making them soft enough to fold without breaking. You can stack several flat tortillas after the dip and flip. Then you take the flat, softened tortilla and put a elongated, little hamburger patty on one half of the tortilla. Fold the other half of the tortilla over the hamburger and put it back in the oil (or another pan of oil if you have a helper dipping and flipping in the first pan.) Fry, turn over using tongs,...you can tell it's done because the meat will be browned and the shell will be stiff and crunchy. If you have a big enough pan, you can fry several folded tacos at once. When they are done, put them on a tray lined with paper towels in an over set to warm, uncovered. This will drain off the excess oil. When you are done making a batch, set out some shredded cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, lettuce, hot sauce, sour cream, guacamole, anything you wish. Get some tongs, load up your plate with a few tacos from the oven (I always start up with three) and gently separate the opening of the taco and stuff it with whatever condiments you like. EAT!!!!!

Let me warn you, these tacos are a heart attack waiting to happen and the preparation is very messy, but it is sooooo good!! A tip on the corn tortillas, don't skimp on the price, buy the best ones the store has. If you get cheap shells they tend to fall apart while you are "building" your taco. Making these tacos might also take a little practice. My Ex got it the first time he tried, so if you're a good cook, you might not have any problems at all. (I would never dare try to make these) I have seen them made a million times.

Sorry if you were expecting an actual, ethnic taco, but we just started calling them German Tacos because my maternal Grandparents are 100% German. I had fun posting this, so I went ahead and did it.

26. I doubt I could get this all in, but
It would be all of the foods I loved the most throughout different times in life.

1 full slab of Razorback baby back ribs
Plate of Alaskan King Crab legs with garlic sauce on the side
Buca's Chicken Marsala
Full bowl of pasta with my mother's sauce
Package of Sno-Caps

I think the pasta would be the last thing I'd eat before being strapped on the gurney.

51. A variety of stuff that ThinkBlue1966 and I make together
And I'd ask permission to use the prison kitchen so ThinkBlue1966 and I could cook this all ourselves, 'cause what we make together is better than anything I've ever had elsewhere.

1 fried chicken thigh (my recipe)
1 slice of our homemade meatloaf
2 baby back ribs with my homemade Carolina BBQ sauce
1 fried green tomato slice
A few spoonfuls each of our homemade mashed potatoes w/ my good brown gravy, bacon-onion green beans, and broccoli-cheese rotini.
A piece of our homemade sweet cornbread, dripping with real butter.
Small chunks of our homemade strawberry cheesecake, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and pineapple upside-down cake.
Half of a Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate bar
A handful of Percocet ;)
