When's the last time you've been to a library? |
|
I checked out a book for the first time in years. It's called Censorship in the United States, Edited by Grant S. McClellan.
I recommended it (so far.)

3. Back in like November of '06... |
|
or possibly earlier. I've lost my wallet since then, which had my library card in it, and I haven't gotten a new one yet (either wallet or card). I lost the wallet when I was out with a friend. When I went out, I had it; when I came home, it was gone. Luckily I only had a dollar in there and no credit cards.

the librarians are in a legal strike position, and I went by to drop them a support card!
The chief librarian knows me -- I often donate educational DVDs (popular documentaries like An Inconvenient Truth, or Michael Moore's films).

But, it's a college library and the books I own will still be around after I check out a few books at the library.

15. Last week, for MG Jr. |
|
I tried to move beyond the picture books to see what they had for me. It took all of a minute and a half--one bookcase of "new" books, mostly mysteries (my own personal opinion of mysteries :puke: --ymmv, of course). Populating the rest of the library (which, it should be noted, is about 800 square feet)...mysteries.
But I'm having a great time buying used books at Amazon. I'm always amused when the shipping costs four times as much as the book, yet I can still score a good novel for about $8 total.

|
Edited on Wed Sep-12-07 09:16 PM by stuntcat
I was moving from town to town a lot and everywhere I moved I worked at a Borders. Most of the places I lived I didn't even know where the libraries were. But now there's a new one within walking distance and I go there every couple of weeks and check out cd's and dvd's. I haven't checked out books there yet because usually I like to own my books forever. I order them used from alibris.com or get them from used bookstores.

I often go to bookstores, see what looks interesting, then get it from the library. I'm cheap. Or frugal, depending on your pov.

I actually go quite frquently even though I have a pretty huge personal collection. But, have no more room for more books so have to use the library for new books. Besides, I love the quiet there.

I have a problem getting the books BACK to the library which is quite silly actually but true. So I end up paying late fees, or not getting the book finished or whatever.
but I love libraries, love love them.

Everything I've read lately has been a reread from my bookshelf, or a recently purchased book.
Come to think of it... last few times I went to a library, it wasn't even to check out books... :)

We have to pay to check out books at the library across the lake from us, so I just buy books now and then pass them on to someone else when I'm finished. I admit that I do keep my favorites, especially my art books, for myself. :hi:

32. Well, the building I work in IS a library |
|
and I had to take out a book for my boss last month.
For myself? It's been too long. I should look into getting a library card. That way I can stop spending money on books.

I went to two libraries. I have current cards at 4 different library sytems numbering somewhere around 20 libraries total. I go on average of once a week.
If I bought all the books I read, I'd need another house to keep them in.
