Great news about my folks!
I talked to my dad tonight...

They're celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary...

But...

I wanted to tell all of you...

They've been moderate Republicans all their lives...

Until now!

They re-registered as Democrats a few months ago!

They hate * and really want to see an end to the insanity!

I could not be prouder!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

You got that right, sweetie!

They were married in 1942!

I was really surprised at their new allegiance....

Though I suppose I shouldn't have been...

They did vote for Clinton, both times...

Thanks!

5. Lurker chiming in here.....
So glad to hear about your folks' "conversion" (their awakening perhaps?)! I've been battling the last 2 elections with my conservative parents to vote for candidates who will ensure a decent future for their severely disabled grandchild... Unfortunately to no progress.

So I'm glad your folks are seeing "the light" and are converting to the party that seeks to end the nonsense the "neo-cons" have instilled within the Republican party of late. Good for you!

Wishing you and your family the best...
S.

23. Hi there!!
They're actually quite intelligent....

They did vote for Clinton both times...

Hee hee! Weeelll.... My parents produced ME, and yet they are still stubborn enough to vote for the proclaimed "conservative" candidates (probably a Southern thing!). They unfortunately wound up with a daughter who chose Political Science (pre-law) for her major study, and Political Philosophy and Ethics as her duel minor. Sooo.... I tend to be a bit heavy handed on saying who I think is the better candidate in our state wide and national races. Oops! ;-)

I'm sorry you're not having any luck with your parents...

My parents re-registered without any pushing from me...

I wish you and yours the best as well...

Post more, willya???!

Awww... Thank you!

It has been a bit tough, though I think my mom will be a bit easier to convince this coming election than the last. She's big on social progressivism though she doesn't seem to "get it" overall. My dad is somewhat a lost hope, EXCEPT that he likes John Edwards's populist stance, as differentiated from his party alignment.... THIS is very unusual from his stance of "fiscal conesrvatives should be in charge, ya da, ya da"... Get it guys!!!!! A TOTAL Bush-bot, who likes Edwards' populist stance!!!!!!!!

This is a miracle! Umm, at least in the Southern states.

CP - Thank you so much for your welcome! I'll try to post more frequently, but personal issues have kept me at bay lately. It may be a bit, but I will be back to work on the southern Edward's campaign soon.... I really do think the he is the most electable candidate on our Democratic ballot right now... If my DAD is willing to vote for him, well... He may just well win the overall election in November of 2008....

Thanks!

Actually, all the years I was growing up, we used to argue over politics...

I've been liberal all my life!

I stopped arguing with them several years ago...

They are quite intelligent, and watching the bushbots destroy the country did it for them...

They liked Clinton too, and voted twice for him!

Now my brother is the only republican left in the family!

A 65th Anniversary is truly a milestone. I don't think I'll ever get there - unless, of course, I'm allowed to count the years of all of my marriages put together!

24. My dear CaliforniaPeggy!
Let me join in your celebration of this great news!

As you well know, many Repubs have pulled the plug on their support for that party. I believe I mentioned the ex-Kansas GOP chair who became a Democrat? That's Mark Parkinson, who is now Kansas's Lieutenant Governor.

Then there's ex-State Representative John Stewart of Michigan. John with an H. And Michigan's longest-serving governor, Bill Milliken, supported Kerry, while his wife criticized Hillary for supporting the flag-burning amendment.

I do not expect to experience the joy of hearing that a relative has gone from being a Republican to being a Democrat, because most of my family (AFAIK) are already Democrats.

I wish I could say that about my parents! No such luck yet. I keep waiting for them to turn! They actually did not vote for the republican Doc Hastings and wrote my name in. I guess that is a start.

Fox News has them in their evil cult!
