I saw the Indigo Girls last night.
Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 04:53 AM by GoPsUx

all I can say was WOW!!
I haven't listened to any of their stuff since 1989-90.
They rocked the house.
And they sound as as good live as they do on their cd's.
Played for two hours solid jamming the whole time with perfect harmony and timing.
If they come to your neck of the woods I would suggest you see them.

2. I thought twice about the 'Girls' part because i rightfully so
had my ass handed to me for using the G word..:hide: I normally omit the 'I' G_rls but i figure it is part of their band name so it was ok.

3. Use of the G word is also acceptable when Alex Chilton says it
I saw the Indigo Girls open up for the Violent Femmes back in the 80s, or maybe it was the other way around

5. The most fun was guessing which band the folks in the audience were most interested in seeing
Definitely a strange double bill. It was at the venue that had the sub-standard deli tray in Spinal Tap

6. I saw them a few weeks ago.
You're right, they were excellent. New stuff, old stuff & some surprises. Did Amy do "Romeo & Juliet"? That was one I didn't expect & it blew me away.
Who opened for them? Brandi Carlile did the first set. She's someone worth listening to, also.

7. I didn't hear Romeo and Juliet
They had some guy i have never heard of open for them.
He sounded like a mix between John Mayer,James Blunt, and Jack Johnson.
I haven't listened to their stuff in years.I think i may have to buy a few cd's this weekend.

10. grrrr
I wanted to get tickets to their show but my husband didn't, and I can't drive. We go to concerts but if there's something I want to see and he doesn't then I'm just shit-out-of-luck

I bet it was great, I'm kinda jealous!

16. I couldn't think of anything about it i would have changed
There wasn't any drums or keyboards or anything like on the cd's
Only two ladies with guitars..And they rocked as hard as any man.

11. I see 'em everytime they come within 50 miles of here.
Have every CD. Love them.

Their last CD had several great songs, one of which was "Pendulum Swinger"

I dream like a mad one
Brutal fantasies I catch as catch can
I'm a psychic and a laywoman
I see love and I like to make it happen
What we get from your war walk
Ticker of the nation breaking down like a bad clock
I want the pendulum to swing again
So that all your mighty mandate was just spitting in the wind

It doesn't come by the bullwhip
It's not persuaded with your hands on your hips
Not the company of gunslingers

The epicenter love is the pendulum swinger
She is she is she is

It's fine about the old scroll Sanskrit
Gnostic gospels the da vinci code a smash hit
Aren't we dying just to read it and relate
Too hard just to go by a blind faith
But they left out the sisters
Praying to a father god so long I really missed her
The goddess of benevolence
You should listen to your mama if you have a lick of sense left

Pushed under by the main press, buried under a code of dress
Relegated by the Vatican
But you can't keep a spirit down that wants to get up again

If we're a drop in the bucket
With just enough science to keep from saying fuck it
Until the last drop of sun burns its sweet light
Plenty revolutions left until we get this thing right

22. I've been fortunate enough to meet them backstage a couple of times
through a mutual friend. They are very nice in person. Amy Ray especially. She seems more gregarious backstage than Emily but both are nice in person too.

12. Did you have obnoxious people behind you talking the whole time?
It never fails...whenever my wife and I go to see the Indigo Girls, we end up with obnoxious people behind us who have paid a great deal of money to come to the theater to chat during the quiet songs. Same thing always happens to us at Mary Chapin Carpenter shows. Weird.

(Also happens to a lesser extent at Todd Rundgren solo shows when he plays a quiet song written after 1974.)

13. We usually have people behing us singing every word of every song
enthusiastically & loudly so that it's harder to actually hear Amy and Emily singing it! That's frustrating.
