I'm so upset with Top Chef ***spoilers*** |
|
Why did they have to send CJ home? He was one of my favorites - send Sara home, she's not producing anything worth eating.
I think my money is on Casey to win it all. She's kicking ass in the challenges

I'm glad I tivoed it last night. Padma (aka The Valium Queen) puts me to sleep.
Also, did you read Bourdain's blog post on last night's episode?
CJ just had some really bad luck with bad airline food and equipment. Too bad.

Holy crap! Who was that vicious bastard on the judges' panel last night? That angry, mean-spirited snake in the grass...that chained Rottweiler in an ill-fitting jacket, leaning forward on his elbows ready to lunge?
Oh, right. That was me.
So far this year, I've had the dubious honor of helping to boot off the show an extremely likeable, open-hearted orphan with a lilting Southern accent, and now, last night, I got to be part of the hunting party who smashed the hopes and dreams of a cancer survivor. Short of biting the heads off kittens while dressed up as a storm trooper, I don't think I could look any less sympathetic.

8. I have to admit that I think they kept Sara because of the male/female numbers. |
|
Top Chef producers have probably figured out that more women watch than men; ergo, keep Sara and dump CJ (they'd both be axed eventually anyway).
Just my theory. Based on absolutely no facts, whatsoever.
I could be wrong.

I just about died laughing when THAT come out...
I dunno, I think it will come down to Hung and Casey in the finals. Brian is NOT long for that show given how much they have disliked some of his stuff, and Sara has been hanging on with some of her stuff (they loved that stupid Tomato Bread pudding thing she did for the buffet--and that just sounded AWFUL to me...) I was not too upset that CJ left. There has been a lot of his stuff that they have not been thrilled with and I kind of figured he'd be gone someplace before the final three.

43. Sara doesn't suck; watch the editing |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-14-07 10:51 AM by HamdenRice
One of the few flaws of the show is the somewhat deceptive editing. If a chef's story isn't interesting that week, you barely see that person on camera. For example, Camille, who was booted off early, is an extremely well respected chef and restaurant owner in Brooklyn; but we barely ever even saw anything she cooked until she made a bad, cornmeal based upside down cake. (We did see a lot of her in her bikini in the hottub.) I mean, I watched the re-runs and you actually barely see a single thing she cooked. I can't believe that her entire record is reduceable to a muffin.
There were episodes in which Sara did well, but appears to have been pretty much edited out. For example in the Latin lunch episode, everyone was raving about her chile relleno, but the editing played it down.
Remember, the shows are not broadcast until the entire contest are over, so the editors manipulate your perceptions for the purpose of suspense and surprise. I think the editors are playing up a "come from behind" story for both Sara and Casey. After Sara's take charge win in the second restaurant wars episode, I suspect she is going to be a strong finisher, and perhaps one of the last chefs standing.

Anthony somebody who went on a rage about CJ's frakin' side dish. Sara has been a poor competitor all through season 3, if she wins this series, I will stop watching.
CJ and Dale were voted most likely to win on the BravoTV website (I really need a life!)
Now I guess I think it's between Casey and Dale.

It's just a TV show. :P
Anyway, that somebody was Anthony Bourdain. His opinion isn't exactly chopped liver. And everybody agreed with him -- Tom said it was the worst dish in three years of doing the show! I mean, once a judge says that, what else is there to say?
And I really disagree that it didn't look that bad. It looked that bad and worse.
I completely, totally agree with you about Sara. Her and Brian are both dead weight at this point -- the winner's either Dale, Casey or Hung.

Anyway, I only ask because, whenever I get involved in these Top Chef threads, I always read that same thing: Hung can't win, no way he'll win, etc. And when I ask why, I always get answers that have nothing to do with cooking. I appreciate that the poll on the site says that Hung can't win either, but again, I think that's more a popularity poll than anything else. And who's popular simply doesn't matter on this show.

The gossip was in the second season (her first), she was lighting up splifs, and when she opened her dressing room door a cloud would pour out. That's probably why she had that strangely glassy eyed, slack jawed delivery in that season.
When the current season began I thought, gee, they're making Padma hold off on the ganja until after the episode is shot. But after last night I think she's just using visine and using her acting skills to appear not stoned.
To eat that much quickfire breakfast all by herself, I'm sure she did some munchie inducing puffing. Maybe that's why she enjoyed steak and eggs for the first time in her life!

He was saying shit about Hung for not helping CJ. It was not letting another chef take the fall or something like that.
Idiot Dale came up with that brilliant dessert crap and nearly got the whole team eliminated. He should have stepped up to the plate and offered to eliminate himself.
I think Hung and his monkey will take the prize. From the start, I thought it was going to be him or Tre.
