Even though I now boycott Pace because Campbell's bought them, closed the San Antonio plant and threw some of my friends out of work, those were GREAT commericals.

7. I like that one, and the Budweiser commercial... |
|
....where the Texas cowboy sits down at a New Jersey bar, and when the bartender offers a cursory (and no response desired) "how you doin'" The cowboy goes into full-on Friendly Texan mode. "Why, I'm FINE! How're y'all tonight?" (and keeps talking)
OH, and the new Jack in the Box sirloin burger commercial, where Jack pulls down the chart of the cow diagrammed into cuts of beef, and says "for those of you not from Texas..."

I'm so overdue for a visit there.
My best friend in Dallas is on the verge of disowning me if I don't get back there soon.

Lots of daily non-stops to and from various locales in Texas as you know. You also have a free place to stay, so the trip would be on the cheap. Pick a long week and GO!

I'm kind of waiting until it's convenient for the S.O. to go with me (he, bless his heart, loves Texas--a sterling quality). Soon, though.

12. There is also American, if you want to take the chance dealing with DFW. |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 07:38 PM by GOPisEvil
I flew non-stop back and forth from Austin to LAX. DFW should have a brazillion non-stops.
It IS good sharing one's home with the SO. I've done that a little bit. She's not that big on Texas yet, but at least she likes it here in Austin. I'll make a quasi-Texan out of her yet. :7

Considering my ex despised all things Texan, it's REALLY nice having someone who thinks Texas is just nifty, and that my drawl is the sexiest thing ever.
Feed her enough tex-mex and barbecue, and she'll be a convert in no time.

...however, if I were to jaunt off to Lockhart, I think I wouldn't get killed. ;) She loves the variety of food here, since small-town Washington is a wee bit shy of variety (although it's getting better).
And, I'm not a native myself, although I have lived here for 27 years (!!), but it's home.

15. Never ask a person where they're from. |
|
If they're from Texas, they'll tell you. If not, well, you don't want to embarass them.
Let's face it-nobody ever wrote a song like "Waltz Across New Jersey."

18. I'm a native Texan..... |
|
Lived here all my life.
And I get the greatest compliment from people sometimes at parties: "You sound like you're not from around here!".
That proves I'm not the stereotypical Texan.
I've even asked people to guess where I'm from by my accent, and I've heard "Iowa".
I love it!
That is what I get for being literate, into non-redneck culture and interested in lots of things.
