What the hell is up with the heat lamps in hotel room bathrooms? |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 08:56 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Why are they there? What is their purpose? I like the extra light they give, and on a cold day they help temper the chill... but seriously - what's their function?
Asks Rabrrrrrr, who's on a business trip (back to WI! YAY! Except I won't have time to go see family, and I'm in the fucking Dells, but at least it's post season, so there are very, very few Illinois people here any more) and just got out of the jacuzzi in his room, which he sat in while drinking Maker's Mark and watching Star Wars Episode IV on his laptop...

6. Me too. I was terrified of them when we were on family vacations. |
|
Even the word "TraveLodge" makes me think of those lamps in my mind. I was terrified of those and of built-in electric heaters in the walls and ceilings. We had a built-in electric heater with a fan above it in the bathroom of our house, and thankfully it only came on by a separate switch from the lights. I would not go in the bathroom if that fan/heater was on. I don't know why I was so afraid of it.

7. Ive heard they are meant to dry you. |
|
Air probably dries you just as fast. I do like them though, they feel nice and they give a neat glow sometimes.

Some hotel rooms need the help. I once had two heat lamps in an apartment bathroom of mine. Although my home heating worked well, it was nice having extra help on those subzero mornings where I lived then.
I remember when the hotel heat lamps were red when I was a kid. I kind of miss those.
Come to think of it, we stayed at 4 different hotels on our vacation, and none of them had heat lamps.

love anything that puts direct heat in the bathroom. :loveya:
Also it's good to run them. The heat can inhibit mold growth in enclosed bathrooms (no windows, no regular sunlight)

There's a meetup in Milwaukee on Saturday night. (Well - Waukeesha/Pewaukee, actually.) That would be so awesome if you could come, too!
:bounce:
oh and the heat lamps are to keep you warm after your bath.

when you get out of the bath/shower, but the ticking of the timer drives me insane. I'd rather have a proper fucking reading lamp.
