I've been evicted because I "just stay locked up in my room"
I'm renting a room in an elderly couples house while going to school, and they've just informed me this morning that I'll have to find another place to live because I "just stay locked up in my room" all the time. What a great way to begin the school year...

15. That's the thing... I don't just sit at home
Apparently they wanted me to spend time with *THEM*. I'm at class most of the time, or else I'm with friends or at the library. When I come home, however, I just want to sit in my room and study/relax. I knew there was something wrong with this couple on the very first day, when they asked to see my student card. When I asked why they needed to see it, she said in a very hushed voice "we just don't want anyone on welfare in our house"

5. Sheesh. Obviously you should have brought ten friends to your room
to party until 3 a.m. Everyone knows that's what elderly couples like ...

:wtf:

7. Maybe they thought you'd be a surrogate son...
and since you keep to yourself, it feels like having a stranger in the house.

'Sounds like a case of unstated expectations.

10. More likely they were hoping for a lively tennant
to bring colour and excitement into their drab, miserable lives.

17. Aww, that's just sad
They want your company! It's the wrong reason to kick you out, but they just want to see you! Perhaps if they rented a grandchild that would make them happy!!

18. I had roommate issues with this
I lived in an apartment with a 62 year old guy, who is pretty active for his age. He goes dancing all the time and takes art classes and has lots of friends, so it's not like he's lonely. But I was in school or working or out with friends most of the time, and when I came home I usually just wanted to do my homework or relax in my room. He'd always be knocking on my door trying to get me to come out and do stuff with him. For awhile I would for the sake of politeness, but after awhile it became a real burden on me. I liked the guy fine but I didn't want to be his best bud. I was over thirty years younger than him for God's sake. After I began to decline his invitations more and more, he got more and more upset to the point where it became uncomfortable for both of us. I moved out eventually, and we're actually much better friends now since we aren't living together.

I know it sucks for you now, but you never know, this may be the best thing to happen to you. You could end up living somewhere really great. That's what happened to me.
