4. If you are in the street |
And I am reasonably certain that I can slow down or stop without getting rear ended, I am going to. You may know that you know what you are doing, but I don't know what you are doing. I am not going to hit any pedestrians if I can help it. If it bothers you, don't illegally cross the street.

7. Some people are that dumb |
Or on our main street of town in my little town in Wisconsin, that drunk. I'm not hitting anyone if I can help it even if it is completely their fault.

10. Being someone who spent several years as a pedestrian, and someone who now drives I can honestly say |
yes. Some people ARE that stupid. On both sides of the situation. The world is FULL of stupid people. And you can't always tell who is and who isn't.

9. It's not that they don't trust you, it's that they don't recognize you. |
Undoubtedly if they did, they'd think "Oh, I know he's smart enough to know what he's doing." Instead they thing "He may be smart, but for all I know he's some wet-chinned Republican--I'd better slow down, just in case."
Then again, they should speed up, because if you don't know what you are doing, maybe your genes are better left on the roadside. :)

3. It depends on the circumstance |
If there isn't much traffic and nothing coming from the other lane, I don't have a problem with that. I don't do that unless someone is already in the road and I don't want to risk hitting them. Are your feet firmly planted on the sidewalk when this happens or have you ventured into the street a little bit?

5. There was a lot of traffic; in every lane from every direction |
If traffic was light, I may have darted across the road; jayrunning. But with heavy traffic, I won't even bend the rules for one inch.
I had remained off the road the entire time.

8. I don't like that in that circumstance either |
It doesn't do any good for them to stop anyway if I am going to get hit once I am past them.
