Attention British Loungers! |
|
It is extremely likely that I will be spending a month or two in London next summer, studying Political Science and working as an assistant to a Member of Parliament. It's a special study abroad program that my university sponsors, and I'll be earning college credit for my time there. I've already done the Orientation session, and my next meeting with my International Studies advisor (this Wednesday) is when I start planning the trip, creating a budget, and applying for scholarships, grants, etc.
So if I wind up spending next summer in England, does anyone want to hang out? :) I'll probably be spending some weekends in Staffordshire, if London is too far away. I'll be there all alone without a single familiar face, so I'm trying to find some friends ahead of time who don't mind giving me hugs and hanging out and keeping me from becoming too depressed and lonely.

1. I'm sure some of us will want to say hello |
|
And to that effect you can always pop down to the UK forum if you want to ask any questions for starters. :hi:
Bag-carrier to an MP eh? Wonder which one you might end up with.

I pray it's a liberally-minded one though; otherwise it's going to be a loooong summer, lol.

3. Well I can't imagine a DUer working for a Tory MP! |

Seeing as you are a DUer the chances are that you would be most suited to a Labour or a Liberal Democrat MP.

Here's hoping that the program takes a student's political beliefs into account before assigning them to an MP. But even if the assignment is completely random, and I wound up with a Tory MP, I'd still want to go. The point of the program is for Political Science majors to study a Parliamentary system of government firsthand, so if I were so unlucky as to be assigned to a Tory, I'd try concentrate on the academic aspect and ignore the rest.

Some of them are completely bonkers. But interning with, say, Boris Johnson, would be an experience to remember ...
