What's a good book on the Great Depression? |
|
Anyone have a good book or two on the Great Depression (aside from Grapes of Wrath)?
Somedays when reading headlines I think it would be helpful to understand that experience a little better...

1. Pretty old but still excellent |

John Kenneth Galbraith's "The Great Crash" is an excellent introduction to how it started and the connection between the stock market crash and the following depression.
It's about 40 years old.

A recommended oral history.
There was another good one I read about 20 years ago by someone with three names, called The Great Depression (I think). I'd have to go digging for it. - sorry I know that was a lot of help.
One I haven't read yet is called The Hungry Years.
