Don't fucking look!
Sheesh....

I've just about had it in GD with all the people who have "issues" with women BF'ing in public. No wonder so few women actually keep at it past six weeks in this country. WTF is wrong with people?! Some are equating it with public urination, and that it is "classless". I had no idea we had such an abundance of ignorant people on this website.

Get over it people! Look away! Some are calling us lazy for not using a blanket (would you like to wear a blanket over your head while you ate? My BB won't do it!) I'm calling them lazy for not looking away. It's a hell of a lot easier for them to look away than it is for me to struggle with a blanket and a 20 lb baby at a table.

My revenge...

I shall no longer make any form of effort to "hide" my boobie when I'm out. :P

2. It makes me uncomfortable
But I totally respect the right to do it. The only reason it makes me uncomfortable is cause I don't want to appear as though I'm looking!

3. I don't get it either
I've heard it referred to as "gross," people complaining because "I'm trying to eat!", that "when I was a kid and got hungry, I just had to wait"...

I'm not sure what is gross about a baby nursing. Is it the breast that's gross? Seems like a whole lot of people here can't get enough of them when they're exposed for their gratification. Why is it different when they're performing their actual function?

There's a helluva lot less breast exposed when a mother is nursing than when you go to the average beach. That's different, though - that's "sexy." :eyes:

4. as someone with a somewhat weak bladder, I don't even have a problem
with public urination, if it is an emergency and there are no facilities!

Breastfeeding offensive? :wtf: get a real issue.

7. It's beautiful and natural and I really don't
understand why people would be weird about it.

8. Yes, I would like to wear a blanket over my head while I eat
but I'm afraid people might think I'm weird if I do.

9. I think this deserves a rec, so I'm giving it one.
There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding, there is no reason why it should be hidden away.

12. people are more open about it now, which I think is cool
I always shoved my kid under my shirt, or under a vest, or in the sling.

I think it's cool and I'm not offended. People need to get way over it. It's a kid eating. No biggee. Don't look.

14. I'm sorry....
and that is an amazingly beautiful picture.

My youngest would never let me put a blanket on him while he nursed. Don't worry about the narrow mindedness of other people.

15. I have to say this
Edited on Sun Sep-16-07 04:46 PM by dropkickpa
Some women *are* attention seeking when they BF. I BF'd for almost a year, I have huge tits, and yet, no one was ever able to see a thing or was aware 90% of the time that I was even doing anything. And Dropkid was a squirmy ass little shit and a blanket never worked with her, she freaked anytime she couldn't see what was going on, being the nosy kid that she always has been. She was especially fond of looking around *while still attached to nipple* (yeowch, never was able to break her of *that* bad habit). I BF'd just about everywhere, at the store, on the bus, in restaurants, even while walking around when she was small. The whole "I'M feeding my child now, so deal with it!" attitude does bug me a bit. People don't make it a big production when bottle feeding, why do it when bf'ing if it's so natural?

In some cases the attitude almost seems to be one of those pointless acts of rebellion along the lines of drawing anarchy symbols on your jeans as a kid. "Look at me, I'm so daring! I'm breast feeding in PUBLIC!! Admire my strength of character!" Big deal, whoop-de-doo, ain't you special. I don't care what or where people choose to feed their babies, but jeez, lay off the martyr shit, they're feeding a child, not finding the cure for cancer.
