The Stand was a very long book...I read it in two days because I couldn't put it down.

9. Just one more chapter...If I had a penny
for every time I have done that with a Stephen King book, I'd be fucking rich by now. No kidding. Feel like death the next day too. Same exact experience.

11. I'm glad I'm not the only one
it's bad enough that when I'm looking at a new King novel at the bookstore I can envision being tired all night at work. I tend to blame it on Mr. King LOL

12. I think I read a review of one of his books somewhere where
the critic said he had "diarrhea of the typewriter." The man writes massive chapter upon chapter of just character introductions. It turns out to be highly readable too. Like in The Stand where the first 13 chapters are doing nothing but introducing all of the characters. And I gladly read and read and read all those chapters building excitement for when the action begins. Usually, I am already tired by the time any action starts, but then I cannot, for the life of me, make myself put the book down. I totally get where you are coming from on this. I know my eyes are going to hurt and I'm going to miss major sleep any time I lug a new Stephen King book home.
