Poll question: Who would be totally hung up on Jodie Foster if not for John Hinckley Jr.?
I'm not talking about stalker-level infatuation; just totally dazzled by her on some level or another.

Would-be assassin asshole had to ruin it for everyone.

1. She's cute
But I'm guessing she doesn't have a thing for overweight, working class stiffs. I could be wrong, though.

2. I've never been all that impressed with her.

The only movie I've ever really liked her in was "Contact".

She sort of projects this...coldness...in her movies.

3. I THOUGHT it was just me!
I think that's why I never feel comfortable watching a movie she's in. She not only takes these really serious characters, but pours the moroseness from a silo on top of each one.

It's probably no accident that Ms. Foster never does comedy.

17. Just watched Jodie in that "comedy/Western"...
...with Mel Gibson. It was on TV-- I was flipping channels. "Maverick," I think is the title. Ugh! Not the best casting in Hollywood history, to be sure! ZERO chemistry between them, and she's totally uncomfortable with the "light, breezy" tone they were going for. And he, as usual, looks like he's carrying a grenade with the pin pulled out the whole time.

8. Ditto...
I've never been that crazy about her, either. She's a competent actress, sure, but nowhere near as impressive as everybody makes her out to be.

I also like Contact best out of all her films. I also like The Silence of the Lambs, but mostly for its camp value.

I absoluely loathed her in Flightplan. Even when you knew she was right, you just wanted to punch her in the face.

6. I like her as an actress
I find her very professional. She's not bad looking either, though it looks like she's a lesbian and I wouldn't have a chance with her. I bet she'd be fun to talk to.

10. yes
I just saw her recently on Letterman and The Daily Show, and she was funny, warm and smart on both. Seemed like somebody you'd like to be friends with.

11. I've seen her since ger Disney movies
Usually I'll watch a film just because she's in it but a lot of times I'm left disappointed not due to her acting but the entire film being bad as a whole.

13. 100% correct!
But, post-Hinckley, I'm sure that Ms. Foster doesn't need any fans going ga-ga over her in any overt way.

15. I've read a couple of interviews
of her talking about Hinkley (within the past 5-7 years) and she said that whole episode made her do a 180 on how she thinks about the public. It spooked her bad.

Who wouldn't be spooked? That's why you don't hear her talk about where she lives, what kinds of hobbies she has, what her kids are like, etc at any great length.

I've always been really impressed with her, smarts and talent.

20. I wonder if that is the reason she doesn't come out
I've heard that her lover goes to every awards show and sits a couple rows behind her.

16. After seeing her in "Nell" and "Little Man Tate"...
After seeing her in "Nell" and "Little Man Tate", I knew she wasn't the simple, flash-in-the-pan actress I thought she was after Silence of the lambs.

I think she's one of the better actresses out there-- she avoids the glitz and glamor, too-- which makes her even more enjoyable to watch.
