Has anyone else had the experience of cutting back on coffee and alcohol and getting a WICKED
sugar craving?

My second question is if I have a wicked sugar craving, should I go get a candy bar or something?

1. I guess my sugar cravings might be linked to that
Around the time I stopped consuming caffeine I started eating Hostess donuts and milk every day. I have stopped eating sweets, though. Now when I feel the urge to eat sugar I chew some sugar free gum.

2. Perhaps
When I drink alcohol regularly, I have no craving for candy, etc.

I haven't bothered trying to stop drinking beer to see if I crave candy again....

3. I don't think so, but I sure get headaches if I quit caffiene cold turkey.
I seem to be able to quit alcohol ok, although it has been ages since I drank on a regular basis anyway.

8. That's what happens to me
I get horrible headaches when I give up coffee for even one day.

4. Probably the alcohol that's doing it.
There's a lot of sugar in booze.

Yeah, go get a candy bar. If you're cutting back on coffee and alcohol at the same time, you deserve it. And you've gotta have SOME vices.

The caffeine-withdrawal headaches get me every time. I've found cutting back dramatically on alcohol about five thousand times easier than cutting back even a little on the java.

5. Caffeine? I'm hopeless.
My body has a separate caffeine system, I swear.

All I can do is live relatively cleanly otherwise.

6. very normal reaction
Alcohol has a lot of sugar in it.
Try honey.A teaspoon evry couple of hours will cut down the cravings.

7. Yep.
I get that. The craving goes away in a week if you don't cave.

9. Alcohol sugar is 7 calories per gram
which is unique because other carbs are 9 calories.

If you are cutting alcohol and caffeine you will probably feel tired/hungry. You might try realigning your metabolism a little. Sugar/candy is only going to give you a quick boost. Better might be to get some long burning protein into your system early in the day. Eggs are a good cheap source of protein. And if you like fruit, that would be better than processed candy.

If you are craving chocolate specifically, then that could be your body trying to find another source for caffeine.

10. I think it's the caffeine and not the alcohol
I'm not a HUGH drinker, by any means, and yes, it's the chocolate me wants. :P
