1. What makes the light tactical?

2. A couple of things...
1. The on/off switch can work either as a standard on/off switch, or you can just give the stud a little touch for an "instant-on" function that some folks actually prefer.

2. The flashlight is small, as small as a compact Mag-Lite, but the light is just so darned bright! It uses an LED that will hypothetically never burn out, and it's powered by a couple of lithium batteries.

3. But can you attach it to the barrel of an assault rifle...
...for that super-cool "suburban insurgent" look?

7. If you wanted to attach a flashlight to a rifle...
There is a version of the TL-2 that's specifically designed for that. My flashlight is simply a hand-held light, great for rainy nights where you need a compact beam that will cut through all the storm.

6. Army/Navy surplus stores sometimes carry them...
...and no, sadly, no new tactics.

Harries technique. It works.

11. Well...
If I really wanted to play up to the stereotype, I'd get one of those big-ass 50,000 candlepower portable searchlights. Matter of fact, I think my father-in-law has one of those.

But really, I just wanted a very bright light I could keep in the glove compartment, because tires won't wait until morning to rupture on you.

12. Does it have a belt holster ...
made of black ballistic nylon?

That would make it uber-tactical.

Black ballistic nylon rocks!!!

Anyway, I got one of those flashlights with a sort-of-LED, powered by 3 AAA batteries. It's too bright to look at, just hurts the eyes. I hope I don't lose it too quickly. But, flashlights and sunglasses just seem to disappear sometimes.

15. Yeah, but it's sold separately
I might go ahead and get one, but the main reason for getting the flashlight is to keep it in the car for roadside emergencies, especially at night.

Of course, it'll come in handy for poll greeter work, too, especially when directing voters past muddy sidewalks after the sun goes down.

13. Okay... I'll ask -
How do you accept direction and, at the same time, maintain a critical stance regarding your ideas and values? Does the flashlight at all help you find your keys when you misplace them? Paper or plastic? Onions on that burger? Take in or eat out?

I'm waiting.....

...........

sigh

16. As far as finding my keys is concerned...
...I don't actually have the flashlight yet, so I couldn't tell you. Onions? occasionally. Paper or plastic? If I can just remember to bring cloth to the supermarket, I'll use that instead.

14. I bought a Mag light flashlight (3 d cells) with an led bulb!
You can see about twice as far than one equipped with a normal bulb. It's great when you hear something way off from the house and want to see what it is.

18. Derby378 is so tactical...
He can email a takedown.

The police classify anyone who tries to mug him as a 10-56A. (http://www.bearcat1.com/radioca.htm)

He once defeated a brick wall in a game of tennis.

When he played F.E.A.R. for 5 minutes, Alma surrendered and the clone troops fled to Canada.

You talk about a BMW M3 and he pictures a .45 caliber subgun.

His lucky number is 7.62.

The real reason Al Qaida didn't attack Texas is, they heard derby378 lives there.

Dick Cheney refuses to hunt with him.

Blackhawk thought he was too tactical looking to put in their ads.

Royal Robbins invented 5.12 pants when he decided 5.11's weren't tactical enough.

His AR is so accessorized, it has turn signals.

He does not sleep. He waits.

When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for derby378.

He can lead a horse to water AND make it drink.

He ordered a Big Mac at Burger King, and they made him one.

When MC Hammer released "You Can't Touch This," he included a disclaimer that the song did not apply to derby378.

19. I hope it was a streamlight....

One of the products that SL didn't get to market, I believe, is an attachment to the lower end of a 9mm clip that accepted their tactical light and had a lever attached so that you could work the tail switch with your pinky on a trigger that hung off of the trigger.

I always figured someone would get excited and squeeze both triggers.

21. It's a Streamlight TL-2
Second-generation, too, with the improved circuitry to reduce dimming over time. Keeps the light at a constant level for about two hours before you need to replace the batteries.

22. Lithium Batteries

Expensive... but have a long shelf life and a steep current dropoff at end of life.
