1. And now he's got an Emmy
I seem to be the first to respond to this thread! But I quite agree. He's a fine actor, although his range may be limited. Certainly his career has been. When he and I were in our twenties, I dug the way Spader played the callow cads so well. Your photo there is, I believe, from "Pretty In Pink," when he played the snake-smooth asshole rich-kid Steff. I think he found himself type-cast, back in those "Brat-Pack" days. He never really broke out of that mold, but at least he's now found a role on a great show with great writing that allows him to basically do Steff as an adult. On this show, of course, we get to see the nuances and depth of his character, and of Spader himself. A well-deserved award.

4. He does that better than anyone
Like in baby-boom with Diane Keaton. I really hoped he'd get the lead role in American Psycho but I guess he was too old for the part. He did a great job in "Secretary", oddly though, it was his most 'normal' role that I've seen; it made me a bit uncomfortable because it was the most psychologically 'normal' character I've ever seen him play.

oh...Sex, Lies, and Videotape.

that was a nice one

10. "Sex, Lies..." Thanks for reminding me
An AMAZING performance in a great independent film that, as I recall, helped put the Sundance Film Fest on the map. It certainly put director Steven Soderbergh on the map. Good film, good script all around, but it was Spader's performance that was the key and the heart of it. Jimmy didn't get enough credit for that film's success.

2. The way he delivers his summations on Boston Legal makes me hot.
Plus, he is odd enough to attract my attention.

And me.

6. But then we'd be like the rest of "them."
We need our own little island.

7. Ah, you mean in a land of freaks, to be a freak is to be normal.
And who would want that?

To be honest, I think it's everyone else who are the FREAKS and we're the only sane ones.

But a notch above the rest.

11. In the olden days, that was the first question you asked about someone.
"Is he a freak?"
"Yeah, man."
"Cool. Tell him to bring a nickle bag."
