Here's some trivia: Skynyrd guitarist Ed King played the solo in the song. He was previously in Strawberry Alarm Clock some years before, and played the solo in "Incense and Peppermints". He hated that the record company plastered inane lyrics in what was supposed to be a surf-rock psychedelic instrumental, so when he and Gary Rossington wrote the music for "SHA", he wrote the solo to "get my money back". Further, he came up with the really hard part of that solo in a dream, then woke up and played it. :D
