17. I finally got to see a real live possum the other day

as opposed to a road-killed one.

It was waddling across the street in my neighborhood in central Minneapolis. Go figure.
But at least it wasn't being held up by the tail by the odious Katherine Harries.

If you ever have to handle a opussum NEVER hold them by the tail. Would you hold your cat like this? It's painful and annoying to the animal. Pick him right side up on the sides of his stomach, but only if he is tame. Do not mess with wild opussums, but they usually just run away from humans.

I feel sorry for this opussum in this photo. I would fucking hate to be held upside down as part of cutesy political photo op. :(

They aren't upside down most of the time, though. Sometimes people hang upside down from monkey bars for fun, but that does not mean they like to be held upside down without permission.
