"Very rare and cold September storm due for later this week" Damn-it!!! |
|
Me and Alison made plans a September Channel Island kayaking trip four months ago. Reservations for the boat ride to and camping on Anacapa Island have been made, trip planned and paid for, and a new kayak and snorkeling equipment purchased. We have been practicing turning over and re-entering our kayak in open ocean conditions. Worst of all I pissed off a new job in order to not postpone this trip. We leave tomorrow morning and it looks like we will get hammered starting Thursday morning. We talked it over and are going anyway.
Pictures will be posted next Monday if we survive.

I hope the storm misses you. I went camping when Hurricane Hugo hit NC, that was quite an experience, lol. Have a good time and stay safe. :hi:

|
I wasn't anywhere near the coast. We just had a camping trip planned and we decided to go anyway. It wasn't much fun.

Dallas Raines ( ABC7) put a 40% probability for late Friday night into Saturday morning. So far, Dallas has been the most accurate forecaster.
If it does rain- I'll believe it when I see it- I hope it rains very, very lightly on you and pours like a mother on the rest of SoCal. The firefighters at Big Bear can really use the help. We are so pitifully dry and fire prone.
Good luck! I hope you have a wonderful trip.

7. Thanks, do you live in Big Bear? |

My sister lives in Big Bear City just behind the airstrip. I haven't heard anything about the fire since Sunday.

11. Nope, i reside behind the Orange Curtain |
|
along with KitchenWitch,Dancing Alone, OCDem and a number of other Orange County Democrats.LOL We all met at the last SoCal Meetup.;-)
But I'm a weather nut and found KABC7 to have the most accurate forecasting.Since writing to you, the '7' team upped the probability, but it's still on for Fri PM to Sat. AM.
I love Big Bear. It's been a few years since I've been there. Last time I heard, the firefighters had the blaze 40% contained.
I hope your sister is OK.

12. LOL- They use to have Johnny Mountain, |
|
another weather guy. He is a hoot! My Mom had a crush on him. :-)
You can find Johnny, Laura Diaz,Harold Greene, Ann Martin and Jim Hill- all former KABC newsguys on KCBS- Channel 2 News. For some reason, that's where they go.
But yes, I like Garth too.
He mentions being married a few times, having two dogs and being "ignored by his friends". No one can ignore that guy.;-)
