midnight poetry thread
I walked along and went through space
it was the fifth time I walked
there
I see him and her and them
yet I don't worry
I'm under a microscope
within myself
sometimes
I entered the room and
wondered
not about much
I walked along
I walk

your turn

1. Here's mine: Yours is very nice...
I lean my head back

Against my chair

and then there you are

your body over me

holding my face in your hands

Smiling at me

those warm eyes

that sharp affectionate look

that says you love me

And then your kiss penetrates me

your tongue plays

and my heart sings

2. For DU:
Pick your battles and weigh your wins and losses
Can what is truly vile and hurtful
Be listed on a forced agenda
Is it a tactless remark by a stranger
Is it an intentional strafing, friendly fire from a comrade
Is it a diplomatic search for truth and compassion
Is it war for no good reason, but war

your turn

3. quiet
everyone wants to get rid of dandruff
and have a brand new interest free living room set
and make the neighbors not so difficult or rough
and yet
the television continues to tell me that
I can't live with a four hour erection
and must contact my physician
damn that circumcision
I want only a connection
and yet
life is rough

what the hell?????

5. Thank you for all of these - Mine:
Song of an Aging Aesthetic

Canvas white
Sky blue
Sun spot orange
Me and hue
Bird in flight
Dark of night
Filament tethers red dragon kite
Artists tears
Stolen years
Deep regrets
Écru laments
Music hushed
An études grace
Variations of light and lace
Rhythms raunchy rock and soul
Beauty seen
A hard won goal
Wasted time
Long and still
Lemons ripen
Write my will
What to leave to who and you?
What is here?
What's left behind?
Unspoken words
Unwritten rhymes
things
things
things
Meant once for me
Not much of a legacy
Essence of what once was "I"
A lasting smile a kiss good-by
A memory
An uttered phrase
A moments providential haze
The things that mean the most,
I can not leave you;
My childrens' touch
Their smooth embraces
A glimpse of stars
Upon their faces
To see the world
Through childrens eyes
Such innocence is for the wise.
A gift from them to me then you
To see the universe anew;
So the things I have
Don't mean a lot
But take a look
At what
I've got.

6. I dreamed about you last night, Karl.
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 01:01 AM by sfexpat2000
We are eating ribs at that hole in the wall in Santa Clara.
They have great jazz. We do, too.

I am dancing with your brother in that orchard
on your birthday, and you are smiling,
the three of us finally at peace.

We are playing a pickup game on my driveway
with the kids. You are mad at me
for taking long shots
until I make them.

Maybe that dream was a long shot, too. And maybe
you'd like it.

9. There should be an auto edit at this hour.
I have been thinking of a lover who I lost in the early 80s. He went to Germany with his mom to clean up and they died in their RV from carbon monoxide poisoning.

He was as unlike me or the men I later married as possible. He was great. :)

Mainly. :)

and people we see in dreams, whatever the hour.

13. Okay.
Beloved Co-terminus:
(Please remain seated during the flight)
I am not lost to you.
I only promised safe passage.
There was no warranty of silence (limited or otherwise).

So tell me, tell all of us
all about you.
Schisms. Paradoxes. Dichotomies, trichotomies
wrapped in disentombed words.
Reasontude. Mystitude. Attitude. Any-tude.

Let us whisper ourselves back to you
in sacred, no-secrets language.
We are all just tourists here,
loitering at life's baggage claim,
just left of the Lost and Found.

another that obviously has to be read and thought about more than....well........a bunch of times.

18. One from my biker days (believe it or not)
Don't try this at home, kiddies!

FREEWAY

Ninety miles an hour!
Black diamonds glitter beneath
leather-booted feet
inches away
Black rubber eye
spinning, humming
ahead of the pack
Springer flashing in moonlight
cold air force-fed to you
a welcome SLAP in the face!
Eyes water (just a little)
A hundred-ten!
She gasps behind you,
grabs for your waist
melts into your back
Hold on TIGHT mama,
here we GO!
Lean swiftly through the curves
responsive thunder vibrations
but smooth control
Wild, man, wild!
Twist 'er tail a little more
PEG the sucker!
The universe is just
a narrow,
moon-lit path to
AHEAD, man, and
just why else do you think
they call it the
FREEWAY?

22. Over the middle I saw
Edited on Wed Sep-19-07 01:51 AM by Perseid
someone walking slowly toward a corner
she was quietly leaning in the shadow
I was seeing
something
and she said
something I will always remember
just ask me when I'm seeing
what I'm seeing
a shadow or
am I
wondering what was said
instead
