I hear there's a slight chance!
Of course, I'll believe it when I see/hear it. x(

3. Chance of rain up this way |
|
And possible snow in the Sierras! I hope it does rain - we need it and I love rainy days. But I miss the thunderstorms - when I first moved out here, there was a thunderstorm one night. I lived on top of a mountain and I watched it for hours - it was cool.
The next day, there was a front-page article in the paper about it. Where I come from, earthquakes make the front page and thunderstorms don't even merit a mention unless they kill someone. Here, unless the earthquake is bigger than about a 5.6, it's buried in the back but a t-storm is front-page news.
It's a silly place but I like it. :D

You're absolutely right about the media reaction
It made me realize that the scent in the air after a good summer downpour is something I miss.

8. I used to laugh at the Californians and their idea of a severe storm. |
|
Pee size hail and a couple of claps of thunder, that I was not really sure were thunder.

10. One day I went to work... |
|
And they all were talking about the severe storm that hit the night before in El Cajon. They were asking me if I heard the thunder. I lokked at them and asked "It thundered?" One of them was like "OH MAN it was so loud and it did it three times. I could not sleep the rest of the night." I started laughing, he got mad. I told him unless it sounds like a bomb just went off outside the house, and continues to bang around, it does not bother me. Three claps of thunder won't even budge me from a mild sleep. They could not believe I was not bothered by the thunder.

My mom actually calls me when they get a good one so that I can hear the thunder. Sigh.
Meanwhile, I have heard TWO claps of thunder since I moved here nearly 2 years ago. And both times, they were over before I realized what the sound was. x(
They were also pathetic-ass thunder claps. Nothing like the low rumbling house-shakers that we get in Nebraska. Though I have a feeling if that happened here, everyone would mistake it for an earthquake! :D
