I bathed a cat this morning
Major screaming and thrashing involved, but only minor damage to my body and the bathroom. This cat gets a bath every couple of weeks, you'd think she'd eventually figure out that she's not going to die.

1. The question is - are you okay?
My kitty comes out of it pretty and clean. I look like the battle scarred raft from a shipwreck.

2. Couple of minor scratches
I'm okay. This is one of the downsides of having a long-haired cat. Every couple of weeks they have a little accident in the litter box and need a bath.

I have only ever done that twice- cats had gotten skunked. Otherwise they stay remarkably clean with no help from me.

4. Ever have a long-haired cat?
They sometimes come out of the litter box with smelly souvenirs stuck to their butts.

12. We had a MaineCoon that was like that.
He'd end up leaving skid marks, and then we knew we needed to wash his rear.

He also needed constant brushing to remove the knots. We have a long hair now that requires no maintenance.

5. Bathing a cat is a two-person job.
One to restrain the cat, one to do the shampooing, rinsing. Heavy gardening gloves, a shower-hose attachment and a large Turkish towel help. My ex and I once had it down to an art.

(I'll resist making any tazer references here. Those jokes have been done to death, and PETA scares me.)

But one seldom emerges unscathed, no matter how skillful. I feel your pain.

8. That is one sad kitty. He's upset, too!
" Get me outta here!"
" They're trying to kill me!"

Man- they HATE getting washed!

7. Mine roll in the dirt.
--just like little elephants.
;(

So, both get a bath every month or so.

I'm glad you're OK- I need a HAZMAT suit
for the next time they bathe.

;-)

:hi:

10. I used to work for a dog groomer. I was the only one in this entire
county who would groom cats. Somehow, I got roped into it and it stuck. People came from miles around for me to wash their cat and sometimes give them a nice summer shave down. I was good at it. Cats are ok. It's the sound the water makes more than anything that they do not like. That's the trick. Keep the water as quiet as possible and they'll do better. I know. I've washed enough of them.

16. My longhair needs it, and I've been putting it off
what with my fear of death and all. But his butt says it's time for Shamu to get a bath.

I'm glad you survived. And no, they never realize it won't kill 'em.

18. The cat thinks you should have figured out that she doesn't
want to take a bath.
The cat's the teacher, not you.
