How do I set Adobe Acrobat as the default reader for PDFs? |
|
I'm on my MacBook. The current default is set as Preview. I want it to be Acrobat Reader. Anyone?
Thanks! :hi:

3. Bring up the info panel on a pdf in Finder (cmd-I) |
|
You can set the default app there.

9. You should get a panel that titles "Whatever.pdf info" |
|
About 2/3 of the way down, there's a pane that says "Open With". Change it to Acrobate Reader and then hit the "Change All..." button.

and select a .pdf that you've already downloaded. Click on "more info". Look for the "Open with" tab. Under that tab, there should be a pulldown menu that lets you select apps. Select "Acrobat Reader", then hit the "Change All" button to set it as the default.

If so, go to "Control Panel", and click on "Default Programs". If you don't see it in "Set your default programs", go to "Associate a file type or protocol with a program", scroll down to ".pdf" and set it to Acrobat.

8. Go into your applications folder, and make an alias of Acrobat. Drag the alias |
|
onto your desktop. Then, when you want to open a pdf with Actobat, just drag the icon of the file over the icon of the alias.
That'll make it open in Acrobat.
Sounds compliated, but isn't. I've been doing that with applications / files forever on the Mac. It's especially handy if you want to, for example, open an Illustrator file in Photoshop. Just drag the icon over the alias, and there you go.
