I am ashamed to even admit my score....6/15! And I was nominally an adult then...
*sigh*
But yes, it is a cool quiz....

2. Wow- I only scored 6/15, and 3 of those were on "educated guesses"! |
|
Good thing I wasn't around back then- I would have been totally lost!

15. I also got 6/15. But, heck, I wasn't even around for almost 20 years after that. n/t |

the clothes, furniture, cars. The blatant sexism is unsettling. And what's with the guy (Don's bohemian girlfriend's boyfriend...) with long hair...in 1960? Seems an anachronism. The guy looks like 1972.

22. Yep. But the film that exists |
|
of "real" beatniks shows people who are surprisingly hygienic and almost preppy looking. This guy looks like a grunge rocker out of Seattle or a '70's college student.

16. When I first saw it, I thought the show had some anachronisms: |
|
- Ad featuring a Mercury astronaut (1961) - Secretary getting the Pill from a doctor (1965?) - Ad agency considered for Nixon's campaign (1959)
BUT it turns out all of these are consistent with 1960. (thanks Wikipedia)
- The Mercury astronauts were named in April 1959, and were celebrities up through the first Mercury launch in May 1961
- The Pill was known to be useful as a contraceptive since 1957. However, it wasn't approved as a contraceptive until June 1960 (and not marketed to doctors until July 1961). Despite that, there was much word-of-mouth 'marketing'--at least 500,000 women had used it prior to June 1960.
- Nixon wasn't named as a candidate until July 1960
Cool show!

23. I also thought the easy acceptance of the pill |
|
by the women in the office and the doctor seemed very premature. I was in college in the '70's and the pill was widely used. But our older sisters who were in college in the '60's didn't have the easy access and few used the pill.

|
since 1963 or 1964, i believe. then her doc asked her to take a break for awhile in 1966 (i guess due to the high hormone levels that used to be in them). guess who had a new baby sister in 1967?
