Found out today that my daughter wants to leave her husband
This is GOOD news. For those who may be keeping score, this is not the daughter who ended up in the hospital recently :eyes: (who is doing much better, thanks for asking) but the one married to the :scared: Republican.

You see why I'm not heartbroken.

Actually, I'm relieved because I've never liked this guy and wouldn't even if he wasn't a Republican - I've always gotten a bad vibe from him and suspect him of treating her badly. :grr:

Anyway, I'm really, really hoping she does and I hope he doesn't make it too hard for her - she's far from home and family and it really sucks to think of her isolated like that. :(

Any Lounge vibes would be gratefully appreciated.

1. How long have they been married?
Just be there for her when she calls and when she doesn't. I have been divorced for a year and a half and I was the one who left but it has been a very rough transition after 12 years of comfortable miserableness.

3. Just over seven years
He's a classic abuser in that he's dragged her off to Kansas where he's from and caused rifts in the family. I haven't talked to her in over a year (except for email) - when she's had a phone, I haven't had the number and he's escalated minor issues between us into major ones.

Thankfully, she's very close to her step-brother who she confides in and he's let her know that all of us are there for her with any help she needs.

5. I really fear he will
They have two kids and since he's a lazy, fat slob, he's stayed at home with them while she worked. Because of that, I guarantee he'll try to convince the court that he should have them and he'll fight allowing her to take them out of state - which she'll want to do because she has no family or connections there except through him. :(

But we will all do whatever we can to help and she is smart and strong. Thanks for the vibes.

9. I almost cried with relief today when I heard she wanted to leave
I would never hope for the end of a marriage, especially when kids are involved, but this guy is bad news and my daughter deserves so much better.

Thanks for the hugs - I hope your sister and my daughter both escape the evil clutches.

12. Vibes for the best outcome for her, whatever she decides.
If he's treating her badly then something has to give.

13. He recently got a job stocking shelves at Wal-Mart
:eyes:

She was so happy and proud, she emailed everyone to tell them. It lasted two days. I suspect that was a final straw - he has worked maybe a month and a half in the 7 years they've been together.

I also found out that on their recent trip to her father's home, he treated her poorly right in front of her dad and step-mom. That had to be humiliating.

I just think she's finally seeing him for what he is and has run out of excuses for his behavior. I just hope she can get away cleanly. :(

14. I hope that she has the courage to go through with it
I used to be sad whenever I heard anyone was leaving a marriage, but I know that it is often the best thing for the people involved. It sounds like it would be a positive thing for her to leave.
Good thoughts to her.
