Well, well, well.... JackMN snuck out of the damn house.
In a diaper and a sweater.
I found him in the backyard chucking rocks at the deck.

:eyes:

My neighbor also found him, shortly before I did.

:banghead:

I think we need that electric fence thing. He was reeeally pleased with his cold, wet self.

1. My dear Lara!
You have more to do than is humanly fair!

The electric fence might be just the ticket...

I'm sorry you have to deal with so much...

4. He's at that "I CAN do it, therefore I SHOULD" stage.
Which is always a bit scary!

5. That's what I said!
As soon as I tore through the house and realized the door was open, I panicked that he'd run out to the street.

:scared:

7. Is the backyard fenced in?
Could he get out to the street from there?

:scared:

8. Nope. Not yet.
He could easily run around the house and get to the street. Or the alley.

:scared:

9. Aw, jeez.
Special locks high up on the door? Ones he can't reach? That might help a lot.

10. I'm thinking I'll have to pick up some doorknob cover-thingies.
Hopefully that's enough to stop him.

12. Ooooh, yeah! My sister uses those, and they work to keep my
nephew from opening the door and running out into the street. Give that a try.

18. Those work...
I have difficulty with those at times. The triplets (who are almost 7) long learned how to get around them.

But they are great for as long as they work.

19. Get those and bolt the top of the door out of his reach.
We did that and that solved the problem.

21. My problem lies in training the older two.
They're constantly running in and out of the house. Maybe we can make them a super-secret pet door to crawl through.

25. I hear you.
We have a different issue; trying to get them to go in/out through the back door so the puppy doesn't escape because once she does, it's at least a half hour to get her back.

Maybe direct them to one particular door? Although I have to say, in theory it sounds great, but mine are a lot older than yours and they still don't do it.

6. I brought him in the house and put pants on him.
Then he decided that since I'd put the pants on him, I must be taking him back outside.

HAH!

Right!

16. I used to have some parishioners with two foster kids with
developmental delays. They had alarms on the doors, and swore by them.

At any rate, I'm glad you found him and that he's safe.

Hope you're okay, too!

15. have you looked into a
therapy dog?

http://asaway.com/index.php/service-dogs-down-syndrome/service-dogs-for-special-needs-children

I know with some autistic children they use service dogs to help "keep them corraled" so they don't go wandering off!

You certainly have your hands full!

24. When our oldest was about 2 and 1/2...
we lived in a first floor apartment, which had a sliding glass door that opened up to about a 20 foot grassy area, then a main street just beyond that.. one saturday morning, my wife and I woke up to some strange voices coming from our living room.. he had woke up earlier than us, and figured out how to open the sliding glass door.. walked out into the middle of the street and a nice older couple stopped and brought him home.. scared the shit out of both of us..
