"I Believe In You"- Talk Talk
Everytime I listen to this beautiful piece of music (and everybody really should have Talk Talk's "The Spirit Of Eden" in their record collection), I never fail to get a lump in my throat. It's music to lift your spirit, and renew your soul even in the darkest moments:

1. Hollis rules! Speaking of post-rock pioneers, I'll raise you a Charles Heyward

3. I can never understand
what he is singing. But the whole record is so depressing and then the end is like it's all lifted away. I don't know how they did that.

9. It's a record of redemption
Mark Hollis' solo album from 1998 is almost as amazing, and very much in the same vein...

8. Here's the lyrics
It's a anti-heroin song:

Hear it in my spirit
I've seen heroin for myself
On the street so young laying wasted
Enough ain't it enough
Crippled world
I just can't bring myself to see it starting
Tell me how I fear it
I buy prejudice for my health
Is it worth so much when you taste it
Enough there ain't enough hidden hurt
A time to sell yourself
A time for passing

Spirit

Healing

Spirit.....

10. Gee, I thought at first you meant this one (which is one of my favourites).

I'm a big Frank Loesser fan, and no one sings this song like Robert Morse.

11. Add me to the Talk Talk/Mark Hollis fan club....
I listen to Spirit of Eden almost daily. I just really like them. Whoever said "hauntingly beautiful" hit the nail on the head.

13. I'd really suggest
getting "The Colour Of Spring" and "Laughing Stock", the 2 Talk Talk albums that bookend "The Spirit Of Eden". Great on their own terms, too...
