7. I love my wireless Logitech with assignable buttons...
everywhere. I can turn the volume up and down and mute the music with my thumb without having to take my hand off the mouse. Now, I can be even lazier, :P

9. You might want to try a "Trackball"...
Instead of a mouse.

They have some advantages. I like mine.

24. I use a thumb trackball also, love it
I hate using a mouse, I always end up short of where I want to go when I have to lift and move. Mine trackball has left and right clicks and scroll wheel and all are easy to use, all are assignable. Once you get used to it you can spin that ball all over the place easy as pie.

The only problem I ever had was sticking. I would pop the ball out and wash it up, clean the inside and it would still stick. Finally I googled and found out you want the natural oils from the skin on the ball to keep it loose so now when it gets sticky I roll it around my face a bit and then between my palms to spread it evenly and it slides like a dream, you can spin it once and the cursor can cross the screen....

12. This mouse is easy to set up.
It has a small USB receiver that plugs into a USB port on the front of the computer, assuming you have one on the front of your computer. Installing it is easy. It tells you when your batteries are low. Mine works fine unless I take the mouse way away from the receiver. I've even started using my mouse in my lap like a remote control when I'm watching a DVD because I can move it anywhere. It's laser, so it doesn't need a "surface" to "roll" on to work.

20. I don't need a wireless. I mostly want something sturdy and easy to use!
I'm always tempted to get something fancy but everytime I do I never use the extras. I'm trying to curb my impulse to get something i don't need!

30. One thing I never figured out about Chinese-made mice
All mice are made in China. They're designed by the Chinese, manufactured by them, boxed and shipped by them.

So why in HELL would Chinese people, who generally don't have huge hands, design mice that are so incredibly HUGE the only people who can comfortably use them are people who can palm a basketball?

I use a little Ativa optical mouse I bought at Office Depot. It has two buttons and a scroll wheel, and I paid ten dollars for it. The price wasn't the big thing. The fact it's one of the few mice they had that would fit in my hand is the big thing.

How to size a mouse: Put mouse in hand with your fingers on the buttons and the heel of your hand on the table. If it's comfortable, the mouse fits.

37. You should be able to...
This isn't "the day," when everything on a laptop was different from everything on a PC.

If the laptop mouse is USB, it should plug right into your desktop and work fine.

32. I hate meeses to pieces.
I've always used trackballs. Just makes sense to me to leave your hand in one place and control the cursor with your fingers.

I'm using a Kensington Expert Mouse™ trackball.

36. I used to have to clean my old mechanical one every 4-6 weeks.
This one is optical. I have had it about three months and haven't cleaned it yet.

I would only add that if you have your keyboard and mouse positioned low this might not work for you.
It seems to be designed to feel best with your elbow at, or close to a 90 degree angle from your body.

Placing it significantly lower than that puts your wrist in an uncomfortable position.

39. 3M Optical Travel Mouse
is what I use at home. I love it because you barely have to move it for it to go and you can just use your fingers rather than your whole hand. Regular full-sized mices have given me hand cramps, they're for like man-sized hands. Anyways, I got this for work first and then one for home because your want your mouses to feel the same as you get used to them.

I had to get a different one for work because this one wouldn't hold up to the heavy 'puter use, I guess. I forgot what brand that one is but it is also a mini-mouse. I don't go for the cordless ones, though.

It really depends alot on how you mostly use your computer, though.

41. Logitech G5 USB mouse
It's a 'gaming' mouse, designed for PC gaming nuts. It has button-sized adjustable, interchangable weights, for example, so you can fine-tune the heft of the mouse.

I don't use that feature, but I love how comfortable it is.

The scroll wheel has a 'bump left' and 'bump right' feature, which I programmed to be "Go back" and "Go forward" buttons on Internet Explorer. It makes surfing a breese.

The thumb button I programmed as the "Home" button, so with a click of my thumb I'm back up at the top of the page.

The G5 also has two buttons underneath the scroll wheel. As orginally programmed, they let you change the speed of the mouse cursor on the fly. You could, with the click of a button, slow it way down for precision clicks or crank it way up for ultra-fast movement. I reprogrammed those two buttons to be "Page Up" and "Page Down", which makes scrolling through web pages and PDF documents a breeze, too.

And it's an optical mouse with a 'gaming quality' laser, so it's as steady as hell.

Amazon.com has them for $46.
