Anacapa Island photo thread
Me and Alison arrived on the island Wednesday afternoon. We had just got about 200lbs of gear and supplies up the 8 flights of stairs (154 steps for those counting at home) and a half mile to the campsite before the storm hit.

Our campsite

Thursday was a beautiful day and we put our fairly new kayak in the water and paddled the entire length of Anacapa Islands exploring sea caves along the way.

The Anacapa Islands are made up of three sections separated by shallows only a few feet apart. This is the arch on the east edge of Eastern Anacapa Island. The arch is fifty foot high and made treacherous with the crossing of wind, waves, and currents. We crossed under it and shot through small caves in it and the surrounding needle rock.

After the roughly ten mile paddle we returned to the dock for our snorkeling gear. We could only take about twenty minutes of the cold water.

On Friday Ali was not feeling well, and the storm hammered us from after noon till about ten this morning. Around that time the skys cleared and we were able to pack our gear down to the dock and get in our kayak before our scheduled boat ride back to the main land.

2. Hi C-P.
I saw your pictures this evening and took our disposable cameras to the CVS next to Ralphs. As soon as I opened your thread Ali was looking over my shoulder and laughed because she knew I would feel obliged to post mine. I just got them back. :-)

5. It is.
This is our second trip to the Channel Island National Park. There are about 4 different islands each unique, with Anacapa being the smallest, and Santa Cruz (our first trip last May) being the largest.

8. Oh, how I love your picture threads!
They always take me out of eastern Kentucky for a while, where these days all the pictures seem to be of mountains being torn down. Your pictures warm my heart!
