1. OK, now to be fair, it's not like Houston has had trains forever.
They are relatively new. Houston drivers don't run into it anymore. Note those pictures are over 3 years old.

Having said that, driving in Houston scares me more than driving in Los Angeles.

2. It's gonna be a laff riot when the Phoenix system starts soon.
I predict that just on the test days before operations begin, a car hits one.

3. That's pretty bad driving
When you turn in front of a trolley...

Thanks for the video --- Well worth watching and good for a laugh and getting the Bejeebus scared out of me.

4. Yep, looks like Houston. Driving here is a different experience.
Two years ago you could spot the Louisiana newbies immediately - only going 45-mph on the highway
or stopping at the merges....aaaagggh! But I remember what it was like on my first drive through
Houston, even at 2:00 in the morning it was fast and scary.

:scared:

5. We need one of those in NASHVILLE!
It would really be interesting. So many idiots, so little road.

6. Massachusetts is still terrible!
I got pulled over here in NH for not using my turn signal...I thoughts those things were just for decoration.

7. They should have elevated it, like NYC and Chicago.
But that would "cost too much". At least one or two people have died making those turns in front of the toy train. Putting it on the surface was bad. Bet those wrongful death lawsuits weren't cheap to defend by the City legal department, even if the dead plaintiff suffered from contributory negligence (failure to keep a proper lookout, general inattention, assholisity).

It's electric so it's very quiet and painted silver. Could be real easy to not see if you're not paying attention. You can't make left turns off of Main Street anyway.

I grew up in Houston and didn't start driving till I was 21!! It was that scary three decades ago!!! I knew I'd get killed if I started driving before I was ready. It was scary as hell in the 70s too.

They have idiots that are just as bad in Dallas -- the assholosity of the drivers there is bad too.

8. Oooo, lookie, it's a Darwin Awards Generator!
Yanno, I wonder how many times the cops have heard "But Officer, the train came out of NOWHERE!!" immediately following the collision.

I guess the train tracks just weren't enough of a clue for those Einsteins there.

9. Massachusetts drivers, while total road hogging assholes, are rather skilled as well.

I enjoyed the morons turning left in the straight only lanes.

10. Ha - try driving in Beijing
I would not recommend it for anybody - not only do you have cars that don't follow normal traffic rules, but you have to dodge bikes, mopeds, motorcycles and pedestrians.

16. That's all over the countries
people come flying into the rotary around here horns blasting because they can't imagine how they'd have to wait for anyone. These are probably the same types who run into elevators the second the doors open.

14. How fast are those trains going?
What I noticed is that the train seemed to be going much faster than the cars. Could the driver have glanced at the train at some point and thought it was so far behind that it was safe to make a turn over the tracks? Just wondering.

20. Don't envy you.
There's something about 45 that just triggers road rage in me. Hate 45!
I was an I-10 girl.
