Ten years ago, I weighed 50 pounds less than I do now
I'm not really one to obsess on my weight though it does bug me that I've gained since I've started having pain issues - first I broke my back, then I started getting arthritis and then I got this knee injury that's bugged me for over 2 years. All of which makes it hard to exercise.

But the other day, I found an old journal from 10 years ago that happened to mention my weight at the time - which was over 50 pounds less than I weigh now. :nuke:

Just kind of made me go :wow:

I'm seriously thinking of cutting my left leg off - it will resolve the knee pain, I can put a peg on and talk like a pirate and its gotta weigh at least 20 pounds or so. :P

1. And
you'll get better mileage out of your car is you take a saw and cut the roof off, then start wrenching the hood, bumpers and trunk off. Next, toss the spare and carpeting and headliner.

Doesn't make the car any better, though.

2. I always wanted a convertible
:P

I don't know - I think a peg would look pretty nifty and it can't be much more useless than the piece of shit leg I've got right now. And I could get a parrot.....

I guess what I need to do is trot (or limp) over to the fitness forum and see if anyone has some good ideas for Exercises For Gimpy People Who Can't Swim (added because people always suggest swimming).

3. Oh shit...
I think I probably weighed 100 pounds less 10 years ago. OK, so I was in 5th grade, but still...that's a lot. I know I'm pretty seriously overweight, but it's just hard to imagine all that, you know? Damn.

4. That's what did it - putting a number on it
I don't even own a scale - the only reason I know approximately what I weigh is because they had to weight me for my knee surgery. Then I saw the number in my journal and did the math - yikes!

:(

6. Shit.

To compare: I'm 35, have some knee soreness, with severe psoriasis on my ankles that, when flared up, makes cardio exercise (jogging) impossible. It literally hurts. Add in neck problems, shoulder socket pain, and some spinal cord issues...

Once the weather cools down I intend to go out every morning to speed walk and jog and get myself back up.

I'm going to have faith the future will look bright. When you lose just about everything else, the future is all that's left...

7. Walking is my exercise of choice
And has kept me in good shape for a long time. But the knee issue makes it impossible for me to speed walk and even a liesurely stroll of only a mile or so causes it to ache really badly. My job is very physical (and why I have a bad knee) so I have to baby the knee to be able to do the job. Which sucks.

And I hate it because I sound like I'm making excuses but I'm really not - I need the job to keep the benefits that pay to keep me walking so I can continue to work so I can pay for school so I can hopefully get a job that doesn't hurt my knee. :P

8. Thought about swimming?
Or aquacise? Loads easier on the joints and great fun. Does your school have a pool?

9. See post #2
Unfortunately for me, I'm pretty water phobic. I feel stupid even saying it but I can't swim and I'm really not comfortable in water. But I appreciate the suggestion. :hi:

10. Oh, well, in case swimming doesn't work
there's always swimming to fall back on. :-)

Good luck!
