Train-watching..........a favorite hobby of mine........dialup warning
I wish I lived somewhere with a better place to watch lots and lots of train traffic. Saturday I had the chance to go to one of my favorite depots.

1. Damn, that train depot looks just like the one in Eugene, OR.
I used to travel by train all the time, when I didn't have a car and wanted to go see my family in Oregon.

2. It's in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
I've traveled by train a number of times and loved it, and wish I lived somewhere with better train service.

3. BNSF cruises past my place a few times a day
My building is literally a hundred feet from the rail line and a RR crossing. Good thing I sleep heavy, because those engineers really lean on that horn!!!

7. The BNSF trains through Mt. Pleasant really make themselves heard!
I am glad I don't live near those tracks. It would be hell to have a house right near a crossing.

4. I love train watching
Trains and I have an intimate relationship, it seems, as I watch and feel their passing :)

fascinates me.

Have you ever taken the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge?

Is that in Colorado? I've ridden the Boone Scenic Valley Railway here in Iowa. At certain times of the year they even stage a train robbery which was fun to be a part of.

I love to watch them roaring into town and feel the ground shake as they race by. Also, my favorite most peaceful dreams have been about trains. Wonder if my soul is trying to tell me something?

6. Here's is the train depot in Woodstock, Georgia built in 1912.
It's about a mile from my house. The railroad track is still there and trains run on it, but they don't stop at the depot now. It's a historical site.

Pere Marquette 1225. She's the digital model for the film "The Polar Express," and you can get a ride on her during the Christmas Season. PRICEY though.

12. Oh wow.
That's an awesome looking engine. There's a steam locomotive here too but no rides though. They've got it caged up. There is a trolley park near here however that does give rides.
