I became uneasy. Ah, but I cannot really take the credit for that, I replied.

Oh, you must be doing something right, he said. "In my experience, it's really hard not to end up with somebody."

Well gee, that made me feel good. :eyes:

Though it may have come out wrong, sounds like he was well-intentioned.

Besides, you could actually take his comment as a compliment. As in, you're doing something right because you're not settling for someone (i.e., "ending up with somebody") who's not right for you. That's gotta be a good thing, right?

I used to get sort of the same reaction at the Presbyterian church I want to. Everybody wondered how I was so "spiritual" because I spent so much time alone. I didn't have a family or a very active dating life to distract me. I got so I wanted to hurt somebody whenever they mentioned it.
