When it rains, it pours. *sigh*
(Disclaimer: I know my troubles are small potatoes next to what some other DU'ers are going through right now.)

On Friday an outlet in the kitchen shorted out, which led to the kitchen breaker flipping off. It happened at night, and since we dashed out the door without making breakfast the next morning (the kid eats at school) we didn't find out about it until Friday evening. We tried to transfer the stuff to a cooler, but we were not aware that our cooler has crack in it until Saturday evening. So we lost all the food in our fridge and freezer--not exactly a small thing for a family that receives Food Stamps. Oh, and the kitchen floor got soaked with water from the melting ice running out of the crack in the cooler. *sigh* The worst part is that we have to replace the entire outlet in order to restore the power to the kitchen because when we tried to reset the kitchen breaker, it knocked out power to the whole house. So add another chunk of cash to be paid to an electrician, because neither of us knows a darned thing about replacing outlets.

Then the clothes dryer motor decided to die. The pathetic amount of cash leftover after payday was made even more meager because we now have to buy quarters for the laundromat dryers, and extra gas money to get us there.

Then ThinkBlue1966 got sick and had to miss a day of work--not good news for us, because she makes so little in the first place.

Can I please, please call a Re-Do on the past 5 days? That old adage about how "God" never gives you more than you can handle is a load of $&@#.
