Okay, who else turned off The War to watch Family Guy?
Ken Burns' groundbreaking World War Two documentary The War ran its first 90 minute episode last night. At 9:00 p.m. I switched it over to watch the season premier of Family Guy which was a one hour parody of Star Wars using the real music and character names.

So who else turned off the historical masterpiece by America's story-teller and film-maker in order to watch a rude cartoon?

:hi:

1. I did.
It was crude at times, but there's nothing like a sharp parody to make a person smile. But it was more witty than playing up the crude card, which is why it was entertaining. EVen then, the crude was used to smart effect (e.g. Stewie Vader telling Obi Wan Molester about keeping 50 yards away at all times...)

And it was nice to see only 2 jokes be treated with the "let's pad this out as long as possible to fill out the time slot". Usually, in their typical 1/2 hour adventure, there are 5 or 6 such moments.

3. I did, too....
I wasn't in the mood for anything depressing, so Family Guy was an obvious choice....

My laugh out loud moments-

-Bush/Cheney sticker on the Imperial Cruiser

-Limbaugh on the Tattoine talk radio

-The whole "I'm taking that couch" thing (only because I had helped move one earlier in the day)

-R2 shooting tie-fighters out of the window of the falcon with his Glock "This is how we do it in MY neighborhood, Biotch!"

-"Aren't you a little fat to be a storm trooper?" "Stay here, then- Uppity bitch..."

4. Peter's father would also have been a good choice for Vader.
They pretty much had to go with Stewie.

Luke, remind Owen not to tell you that Darth Vader is your Dad.

7. I thought some of the Robot Chicken Star Wars bits were funnier overall,
but Family Guy did have some laugh out loud moments. Great stuff. On the very rare occasions that I watch TV, I'm glad that it's like this. Thanks to the Loungers for the heads-up on this one!

12. I loved the Airplane references.
And the scene where the Griswolds appear out of nowhere, I was laughing my ass off.
