i've found it's a good idea to try and guess why something happened, on a thin piece of evidence, and then see how close i came -- or how close i DIDN'T come in a lot of cases

it's good mental exercise

as long as you're aware that the snap judgement is just that, a snap judgement, and you're open to changing your opinion based on new evidence, seems like healthy mental exercise to me

better to keep some of those "snaps" to yourself tho or you'll get a reputation as a bit of a psychic in the wrong circles (because let's be honest, some "snaps" are really based on a lifetime of observation and experience to the point where it's your intuition whispering truth to you)
