NJ DUers - will my tokens from the late 90s still work in the tollbooths? |
|
Back in the dark ages of the late 90s, I used to go down to southern NJ fairly regularly, as my ex-wife's family was from there. Of course, that means tolls every few miles on the Garden State Parkway - and, I had regularly bought tokens because you got a small discount.
I was going through a cup of change the other day and noticed I had a few tokens left over from my last trip to southern Jersey back in 1999.
Since I'm going back down there next week (north of Atlantic City, and my ex's family was south of A/C) - will these tokens still work, or has the system been superseded by something else - new tokens, new format, etc.

they probably won't work.... first because they might only be worth $.25 and tolls are now $.35. Alot has changed on the parkway... be careful of the EZpass only lanes they took down some toll booths and made some booths $.70 to make up for the ones they took down..... They did that for "flow" lost

A couple of weeks ago My wife and I were at a crafts festival in New Orleans and one vendor was selling necklaces and earrings and bracelets made with old tokens from Boston, Philadelphia, New York and, of course New Orleans. Very nice.
