I attended the unveiling of the national murder victims' memorial in DC yesterday
One of my close childhood friends disappeared 17 years ago and was presumably murdered; I attended with her family. It was very touching and things got pretty emotional but that's to be expected.

The first legislator speaker, senator from Arizona, I believe said, though, that the building we were in (Russell Senate Building) had enjoyed 400 years of legislative history. I majored in history in college but somehow never learned that, in fact, Washington, DC, was around in 1607. That was really forward-thinking of the colonists to build a national capital 169 years before they needed it, wouldn't you say?
