1. I don't think people were saying disco is evil...
I think the concern was that if people liked disco too much, then it might lead us into a war with Iran.

Man, I gotta stay out of GD.

3. It was evil back in the day because it was perceived as being plastic and sterile
Along with folks who didn't like it because it was embraced by blacks and gays

4. Blimey. Disco is definitely airheaded and fun,
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 04:58 PM by HypnoToad
but I think that was the point.

The real sterile plastic stuff came during the 1980s.

8. I think techno is more versatile than disco
I've heard techno that's been flavored with urban/R&B, hip-hop, rock, speed metal, "hippie" music, and even Brian Eno-style ambience. It's kind of hard for disco to stray from its own parameters without transforming into something else. Come to think of it, that's pretty much how techno got started in the first place - as house music in Detroit nightclubs. Someone described the first manifestations of house as something like "music performed at gay nightclubs by straight disco expatriates." I don't know how accurate that is, but there you go.

12. Here's a simple experiement for you to try
1. Smoke some of your favorite herbal essence (or whatever you use for your personal mental expansion purposes).

2. Play this a hundred times in a row. Dancing to it is permitted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97RjuC9YeXg

3. Count the number of years your therapy is set back because of it.

15. Mainly because 'disco' spelled backwards is 'Ocsid'.
One of the minor minions of Beelzebub.
Ocsid was the forger.
No, not of bogus checks.
The pitchforks.
His were made of actual pitch, (key of C#) and required constant attention, as you would imagine.
