At the fast food restaurant of your choice. :D

Seriously, though, last time I took some coinage into the bank it was about 40 bucks.

They're saved in a very lax way over the last ten years, I think. I love those machines! Let's you & I paint Burger King red, shall we?

9. Hey, maybe we're thousandaires and we don't even know it.
That would be a swell thing to find out, right? :P Another trip to DC? Suddenly I feel very lofty. I just have to find out if I have the wherewithal of actually getting to all the change, transferring it to a laundry bag & hauling ass down to the bank.

29. Lynne: "I have the plague."
Edited on Thu Sep-27-07 08:24 PM by Sugar Smack
Joani:"I'm sorry."
Lynne:"Why? Did YOU give me the plague?"
Joani: (calm turning a bit seething) "No. I didn't. I consider you my friend. I like you and as a liberal Democrat and friend I'm concerned about your welfare. "I'm sorry" was an expression of sympathy, not of guilt, and my friends appreciate my sympathy, and if you as a friend don't appreciate my sympathy, then you can fuck off."

 Best comeback ever. How's Lynne, anyway? Do you know?

Imagine the thought process: People think of pennies as pennies, not money. I'll bet the original idea was conceived over a pitcher of beer and actually followed through! It is, just like you said, sort of an "out of nowhere" experience.

18. haha!
Thats actually what i was thinking too. Back when I was a kid, there were no stores around were you could actually buy decent weed pipes (no internet back then either), so we would go to Ace Hardware and buy a bunch of copper piping and fittings and pry a screen from underneath a sink faucet. Then we'd put it all together and wrap it in tape. (or tennis grip tape, even better!)

It's funny how the average stoner suddenly turns into McGuyver when the necessity arrives. :D

30. I'm still hoarding.
When a paper dollar is worth less than a few sheets of toilet paper, and you are using the dollars to wipe your ass because the toilet paper is worth something in trade, then these pennies are going to be what passes for a "hard currency."

And maybe you can trade them for a car, because what's a car worth if you can't get any gasoline?

Actually, I plan to get rich hammering the leaf springs of cars into swords which I'll sell to people who fancy themselves Mad Max Road warriors.

:woohoo:

The future's so bright I gotta wear shades!

46. Consider yourself held dearly, Mine Czarina, now step inside for cryptic message...
and early film review of a movie i just put on; it's Bug, with Ashley Judd, and she's in a motel a scary one, maybe not really scary cept it's in a scary movie!!, etc, still one of those ones that are small, a tweeky car here & there outside some 8 units where you bid lean on the chipped posts outside your room by inside voices in the early eve cause it's just too hot & sweaty in there, too boring all day all night with tattered sheets and some...stained bed spread and such...but so far she's being this regular girl all flat no makeup if a little edgy as yet unknown, opening wine bottles with her teeth and smoking butts that might only seem appealing to a hobo on a toothpick wait a minute; she's in a store of some kind, now' she at a honky tonk, all loose & boozy, with some blond chick with tattoos on her upper arms, both of them, whelp that's about it for the film review for now but NOW...for the cryptic message...

ergo, much like Sir Aurthur alluded to previous: The Game Is Afoot, you may well hear from parts seemingly disparate but you may well hear from them nonetheless, be yourself: be the beauty that is you, the beauty that you are, your mind so ply-able, so 3-D it it's application, so nuanced, Czarina, for the game...is afoot; that is of course all i can say for now

76. Alas, some dreams were not meant to be.
I rented an apartment in Lighthouse Point about 10 miles north of Fort Lauderdale x( too far for a day drive to Islamorada or Daytona Beach. I bought new furniture because mr.a told me we were selling the house and moving south when will I ever learn to get all of the facts before making expensive decisions. Now he wants to keep the house!
Over the summer I pushed through several unfinished contractor related jobs but there will always be rotted boards to replace, driveways to reseal, grout-work to be pointed-up and mr.a is either clueless or too tired to do the work. If I walk away for the entire winter (again) I'm afraid of what I'll find when I return so I'm packing up the apartment and shipping three beautiful rooms-to-go north sometime in December.
Never fear ~ ~ I'm not grounded here. Before I made the decision to move, I purchased a very small travel trailer (now I'm going to try living in it around mid to northern Florida for a few months this winter) and ordered (still waiting for it) a new Jeep 4 door Unlimited to tow everything. My trike is still down there somewhere in Jupiter, my upstairs neighbor moved it into his garage (in June when I couldn't get back down there to move it myself ~ there are nice guys left in this world) when his lease was up. I'll find a you-store-it type of spot to keep it out of the weather near me till next spring when I'll try to ride it north or buy a utility trailer to tow it home ~ I need my stuff to be where I am.

My new ride ~
Home away from home ~
Do you still have a big parking lot or did you move? You never got to meet Miss Frodo.

The temporary end to having a place in the south came when I decided to spend a small fortune correcting the damage a horrible dentist left me looking at for the past 5 years. I've seen one too many photos where I look like I've just walked away from a bar-fight. I want my old face back! I know I'll still be sportin' a lopsided smile but without the fat lip it will be easier to accept.

BTW
Beautiful women should avoid homely female dentist who want to correct your cute little overbite.

I'm so very glad you got to see The Keys! :loveya: :pals:

59. Heh.
No shit. I'm lucky to be someone who can walk to work every day. Maybe this car I wind up buying can be used as a planter or lawn ornament.

66. Yeah, I used to walk to work and school every day... unfortunately
that job went under, and due to lack of income, I had to drop out of that school. :\

60. With all my spare change, I bought an mp3 player last year.
20gb. $191 dollars. Half of it pennies.

63. WOW.
That's super. On the one hand, it's kind of reassuring to have all that change lying around. On the other, I think I'd rather have something like an mp3 player. :toast:

65. It took six years to save all the pennies.
I have two water cooler jugs. One for pennies and one for silver change and dollars.

I was wondering what the proper receptacle should be. I think you've come up with it. Thank you!

62. I had more than $100 in change
and it weighed a ton! The kids helped me carry it all. When the kids saw how it could all add up, they started their own jars. They always look for pennies and dimes that have been dropped. :)

64. How cool is that? I love it.
It's so funny the way those machines have redefined the penny's importance.

(warning - geek alert)

and a few other similar items. They are scaled miniature buildings (25mm of building, or about 1", equaling about 6 feet in real life) that I use for table-top wargaming and role-playing games.

71. I had an odd way of saving change
so, I accumulated it fairly quickly... but, I normally carry around a bunch of pennies, so if I buy my coffee for $2.32, I would give the cashier $3.02 and get 70 cents back. Do that 5 days a week, and you get $3.50 per week just from coffee.

I rolled it myself, though, and brought it into a bank so I didn't have to pay the service charge for using one of those change machines.

72. Our bank used to count change for free
We used to be able to drop off our change to our bank. They'd count it, deposit it into our savings account, and mail us a receipt. That service went away at about the same time the 9% change machines at the stores appeared:mad: We haven't taken our change in since. Eventually, I suppose, our floors will give way.
