3. Chihuahua mixes are fine.
We have one (Chihuahua/Pug) and she's great. She has the serene pug temprement but the cute Chihuahua face. I've been told by other people that mixes are fine because they filter out some of the Chihuahua weirdness and neuroses.

5. My best friend has a chihuahua...
His name is Gizmo...he's the coolest dog ever. He thinks I'm the greatest thing ever. He makes me feel so good about myself, as a dog should. Every time he sees me he just wants to love on me and he gets so excited. He's chocolate brown and tan and he's the prettiest chihuahua ever. Also, he's got a really good personality. The only chihuahua I've ever liked.

6. The good thing about chihuahuas is they are easy to take on a trip.
When it's time to go to the bathroom you just hold them out the window and squeeze.

10. Chihuauas are usually yappy little rats
but on occasion you can meet one that is friendly. And there is nothing more loyal or fun than a friendly teacup chihuaua.

12. Bravo.....and Ditto.
I was always a big breed guy and my all time fave was Ollie, my 100lb. Weimaraner. When I moved in with my girlfriend 3 years ago she had a female teacup, Tia. She is the sweetest, most loving little thing. I had to re-evaluate my feelings about little dogs in general and Chihuahuas in particular. Tia weighs all of 5 lbs. We also have Sam, a Chihuahua mix 3 times the size of the little one. He's a dandy too.

15. Wifey and I rescued this one Teacup off the street
The little girl had one bug eye, but would stand on her hinds and just hold that position, until you gave her a treat. Sweet little dog - she would always dive right into your lap.

Now in our home we have 2 Samoyeds who weren't about to give up their place in the pack, much less to a teacup chihuahua. The little girl would try, but Sitka kept reminding her "It will take 20 of you to make one of me...trust me...you don't wanna mess with me!!!!"

Anyway, we had to give her (the teacup) up for adoption.

14. Someone here called them a cross between a rat and a piranha
I've got a chihuahua crossed with some combination of pom and terrier; I call him a pit chihuahua. He's a great dog and companion.

He loves kids and people, but hates other dogs. Has no hesitation in ferociously attacking Irish wolfhounds, rottweilers, and coyotes, despite being a four-legged meal for them.

17. a story the ratdog lovers will hate
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 12:13 AM by Djinn
A friend of a friend had a horrid little yapping chiuaua that was truly repulsive, apart from the fact that physically it looked like something that had mutated in a beaker rather than been born it had the world worst personality for a dog - it would sit at the furthest point away from you and just yap and yap and yap for hours. It would only stop to eat (and it would growl at you as you put it's food down) If I hadn't known these people better I would have assumed they'd tortured it but all their other animals (and kids) were lovely so this dog was clearly just really mental

One day the owners realised they hadn't heard the piercing yap for a while and went to investigate - they eventually found her ages later folded up in the sofa bed, deceased.

I know it's the worst possible karma but I couldn't help thinking it was all the scrawny noise machine was good for

... a Pomeranian it weighed hardly a pound.

A SQUIRREL could have beaten it up.

19. Watch your step, Chihuahua haters,
Remember, Skinner has a much-loved Chihuahua, Romeo.

I had Chis as a kid; they can be nice little dogs or they can be whiny yappy spoiled brats. It's all in how you raise them. Treat them like you'd treat any dog, and they grow up to be nice dogs. Treat them like porcelain figurines, and they grow up to be horrid little ratdogs.

Besides, what have you got against rats?

(By the way, my Chis wouldn't have been "overgrown" rats - my Tequila was 2-1/2 pounds full-grown.)
