I can be incredibly petty and bitter, apparently.
I used to like that show Myth Busters. It was those two guys, doing neat stuff. Then they added a hot chick and nerdy guys. Ruined it for me. Can't watch anymore.

Last night I watched the Ghost Hunters premier, and they, too, have added a hot chick. All the other women that have been on the show have been normal-looking women. Ruined it for me. I don't know if I'll be able to watch anymore... I hope so... but it just bugs me every which way.

I have nothing against hot chicks, mind you... it's just that I can't get over the fact that when these shows add hot chicks to the group, they NEVER add a hot guy.

It's wrong and unfair and I hate it so THERE.

x(

:P

And as I already said, I know it's petty... and I guess this means I'm bitter... but I don't care. So THERE! Again!

1. I think Grant is cute, though, and he's a later addition.
He replaced the tattooed woman who always wore braids, I can't remember her name. Carrie does bug me sometimes, but I think she's actually more than just looks. She seems very knowledgeable. And their new intern is very smart. She was one of the contestants from their build a sun death ray episode. I love Mythbusters. But, generally speaking, yes, I hate it when they add the gratuitous hot babe to an otherwise intelligent show when it's obvious it's just about her looks.

As for attractive and intelligent... well fine... as long as it's balanced and the guys they add are also attractive and intelligent. :)

4. I don't know the name...
I just know there's a redhead that dresses all cutesy and most fans think she's soooo hot...

Oooh so that's another thing... if the cute woman dresses cutesy (to show off cleavage and what not), then I want the cute man to also dress to impress the ladies.

I'm not demanding or anything, though. :P

6. That seems to be the kiss of death for a show
The final step before cancellation is to add in a smoking-hot actress (talent not required) playing a vaguely-defined role that has little relevance to the long-term story...

34. How is it unfair? If there's a hot chick on the show, then guys can see that she's hot,
and girls can see that she's hot, so everyone is looking at the same quantity of hotness. Isn't that parity? :silly:

(Anyway, when they put a hot guy on TV my wife starts looking at me funny and making comments about exercise - it makes me feel queasy...)

They used her butt to test the vacuum-sealed-to-an-airliner-toilet myth.

She's also talented, smart, artistic, and brainy in addition to her good looks. I admit I'm hot for her, but hey, I'm not alone. Something about coppertops...

But I will note that Grant and Tori are also pretty-good looking examples of manhood with brains and talent to boot. I'm pretty sure if I looked like Grant I'd be fending off the ladies with a stick!

And there was the woman Scottie as well, who was an expert metal fabricator for the first couple of seasons and I thought she was decent-looking, but no more than that.

23. This was my beef about Dinner and a Movie
It used to be a guy and girl, both equally hot, equally funny, about the same age. This was maybe 5+ years ago.

Then, the girl went away, replaced by a series, of young hot chicks. The dude stayed tho. The other thing that changed, the girl was much more perkier and bubbly, while the dude slowly got quieter, as if he didn't have to try so hard anymore.

I know exactly what you mean - bugs the hell out of me, too.

Give Kari credit. She's bright, creative and witty - and yes, I agree - she is hot. She fits in perfectly with the cast though.

Oddly enough, after seeing how things were for a hot female coworker of mine, I almost, kind of, have sympathy for real good looking women. It's almost like people have a preconceived notion that attractive women are a.) stuck up and b.)not intelligent. Hell, one of the other women in the group that interviewed her had the same immediate impression after seeing her, but her mind changed only after the interview.

But remember, a lot of it is subjective though...and depends on the hiring staff and marketers.

The majority of Mythbusters' audience is likely male...and the people who produce it likely are too.

And in all honesty, and maybe it's because I'm a straight guy I have no idea what women find attractive! Whatever it is, I know I'm not it!

But I'm sure there are women involved in the production. IMO if a person isn't going to turn most heads walking into a bar, they aren't "TV" attractive. And those guys are just not double-take material.

I saw some double-take material downstairs earlier this afternoon though... too bad he had turned away as I was doing the double-take. :P
