I have this friend . . .
who recently found out that she was not 'legally' married to the man she married 17 years ago because his divorce from his first wife was never filed. Let's say the 17-year marriage is 'comfortable and predictable'. What would you do?

1. Weird. There are obviously more issues than that if he lied to her
about being divorced. What he did is illegal!

2. I was thinking perhaps
jewelry, a cruise, and a new car? That'd be about the same amount he'd spend on lawyers, yes?

3. When you say comfy and predictable, does that mean good?
It sounds good to me. :)

But... well... I don't know... work on changing it? He wants to divorce the first wife, yes? So he does, then they can marry... it could be quite romantic!

4. That's what I'm thinking -
pop the question - which would require a HUGE diamond engagement ring and then a honeymoon to perhaps the South of France!

6. Well... I *loathe* diamonds...
but if she likes them, and she likes the south of France, then I guess so...

I'd prefer something less expensive and more intimate, myself. :) (Intimate meaning something that shows that he knows what SHE likes - as opposed to the stereotypical 'romantic' crap.)

5. That depends.
If by "comfortable and predictable" you mean "good and worth preserving" then do what needs to be done to correct that 17 year old oversight.

But if there is any doubt about the relationship I'd definitely take this into account.

7. I would have a HUGE problem with my "husband" lying to
me the whole time saying he was divorced when in fact he never got divorced. Red flag!!!! Lots of them!
