My puppy, of all things, just went through a false pregnancy.
So, I'm glad I decided not to KILL the dogwalker I hired to take care of her while I was laid up with a broken foot.

She exhibited every sign of being pregnant and I thought I was going to have to find the nearest bridge and jump off of it.

I'm beat from two weeks of clammy worry about her and about the expense and about having to raise a litter or who knows what until they can be adopted.

Damn you, Nature! (shakes fist)

1. I went through that with my Rottie and I constantly wondered
how that could happen since she is with me all the time when she is outside. And I definitely did not want my purebred dog giving birth to pups from some unknown dog. Well, finally took her to the vet and found out it was a false pregnancy. Was I relieved!

2. It never even occurred to me although I've had two myself!
I just went into a blind panic.

I was going to have her spayed just at the same time I got my injury and decided to put it off until I could take care of her if needed. She's never off leash except at the puppy park. And when we're there, there are always 20 other adults making sure no one gets mounted.

She's only a puppy, and if I wasn't so beat from worry, I'd be turning cartwheels right now.

Are there birth control pills for dogs? Hindsight, 20/20. :(
